Grand Floridian vs Fort Wilderness. I am staying at the Wilderness Lodge and have dinner reservations for both the third and fourth of July at the Grand Floridian. I would really rather ride my bike to the campground and spend Fourth of July dinner at Trails End and then watch the fireworks on the beach. Are the fireworks that much better from the Grand Floridian that I should see them there both nights. Are they still doing the fireworks on the third, also. Thank you!

catflorida,

Personally although I am a fan of the Fort, I think viewing the fireworks from the GF would be awesome. What I don't know if the next night would be just as awesome. Is the music piped in at GF too? I would assume so but don't know.

IIRC Disney does the same show on the 3rd and 4th of July from what I have read here but if I am wrong someone will correct me.

If it were me I would keep the reservation at GF for both nights but also make a TE reservation on the 4th (if that's possible). If the weather is good at GF on the 3rd and it all works, cancel the GF for the 4th that night and keep the one for TE. If the weather doesn't cooperate on the 3rd but might on the 4th, cancel TE on the night of the 3rd and keep the GF. So try to make the GF viewing and work in the Fort if you can.

That's what I would try to do if I were so inclined.

PS - I also like viewing the fireworks from the outside deck of the Contemporary but it draws a crowd so get there early.

Thank you Bam Ed. I wish I could book both, but it is no longer allowed. I have never been during July 4th and I want to see the fireworks, so the Grand Floridian it is. I just love riding my bike in the evening at the campground. I guess I will save it for my Halloween trip and my Christmas trip. There is no place like Fort Wilderness and I have been going since 1974. Still haven't gotten over how perfect this place is.

cat,

Given the fact that you have other trips to WDW coming up along with July 4th, I agree with your plan to stick to the Grand Floridian. It sounds like you will have the chance to eat at TE sometime soon and see the fireworks from the Fort beach another time.

I hope you show some pictures or post about it because I will live it through you (and so will others).

Have a great trip and I hope the weather cooperates for you to have a good outdoor viewing at GF.

Bama Ed
