I'm Nina and I'm trying to get into scrapbooking. I bought the Four Parks One World Scrapbook Kit from Disney Store dot com to scrapbook my pics from our last trip. I was all excited until I got the kit and was disappointed by how unappealing it was. A lot of the sheets have big pictures (ex: Spaceship Earth) on them instead of background designs. :confused3 I have no clue how to scrapbook on those sheets with the big pictures. :confused:It feels like it's look too busy if I put my pics over that one big pic. Has anyone bought this kit and actually scrapbooked with it? I'm curious to see ideas for it and hopefully be able to continue my project soon. :)

WEll... I feel your pain. I bought TWO of those kits several years ago (maybe 2004) during a trip and was bitterly disappointed. The pages are weird. I used what I could and finally (just a few weeks ago) gave the remainder to my nieces to use. I probably used less than 1/4 of the stuff in the kits.

Someone from Disney really dropped the ball on this. If you notice, some of the AK papers show those mythical dinosour/dragon characters that were originally slotted to be part of AK.. but they never created them... but they still show up on the paper?? (And if I remember correctly, I've seen them on a sign at AK as recently as this year.) And if you look carefully at the papers that have the big park icons, they are kind of "photo shopped" to put the icon on a weird background of potted palms...??? strange.

If you haven't used them yet, I would suggest trying to either return them or sell them on ebay.

If I have time tomorrow I will try to post a few of the pages I managed to make with these kits to give you an idea or two. Good luck.........P

I agree. I bought this also, and had a very hard time using it. With some of the pages, I cut up the elements to just use pieces on other background. Others, I gave up and gave to DS to play with.

Wow ... glad I didn't buy that one. I did buy the Four Parks One World album and a kit while I was in Disney in June tho ... haven't used it yet but hope to break into it soon. I'm actually working on my last trip book by pulling from my stash I have. I tend to just pick up anything I see when out shopping ... I use a lot of embellishments from places like Michaels and ACMoore and basic cardstock.
Hope you can find a use for the kit you picked up. You may want to take a look at the virtual scrapbook at the top of this board to get some ideas. And be sure to share pictures of what you scrap.

Disney still uses the dragon in a bunch of its merchandise. If you look at the three ticket booths at the park entrance, you will see a triceratops on the right, an elephant in the center, and a dragon on the left. Disney purposefully does this to make sure all types of animals are being represented in the park - those that were and are now extinct, those that are, and those that never will/can be. While dragons are currently not in the park, some mythical creatures are, such as the Yeti at Expedition Everest. :goodvibes

But to be on topic, I almost bought this kit, but decided against it in the end for the exact same reasons. Hopefully you can find some inspiration soon!

I bought the kit in 2009, having never scrapbooked before. I've used the big icon/photo shopped pages for many of the 40 pages I did for our trip.

The big icons/photo shop pages peak out from my photographs. The only one where I really positioned everything around the photo shop page was Cinderella's castle. In our Photopass pic, the sky is dark and gloomy. (We were there during the Monsoons of May '09).

I wanted a picture of the castle closer to the way it should be, and the page came in really handy for that.

On my title page I used the big Mickey "Four Parks One World" page and put the date in Thickers around the sides.

This is how I used those big picture pages, which you don't really want to cover.

That is such a great idea Hope ... thanks for sharing that page with us. I have so many sheets of paper that I just don't want (or know) how to use ... that's a fantastic way of working with it.

Yikes! That's horrible about buying two of them. I'm trying my darnest to see what I can do with the pages I can use. Don't think I'll use many of the embellishments. They're all just blah.

That'd be cool if you can post some pics of what you were able to do with it!

Hope,

Thanks for sharing your idea! I almost always do 2 page spreads and this kit has mostly single sheets. So I'm thinking your idea would also be a way for me to continue doing 2 pages with just one sheet.

And add me to the list of people disappointed in this kit.

Hope, what a great great idea! Thanks so much for sharing, I am definitely going to use that technique
