From Orlando Biz Journal, four new restaurants have been announced (finally) for Pointe Orlando.

Capital Grille--upscale steakhouse, apprently a chain along the lines of Ruth Chris?

Oceanaire Seafood Room--"designed like a '30s-era luxury cruise ship with seating that feels more like a stateroom than a restaurant." Seafood, natch.

Tommy Bahama's Tropical Cafe & Emporium--Tommy must have paid a visit to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and got dollar signs in his eyes. "A tropical cafe menu, featuring items such as crab bisque, coconut shrimp and jerked chicken."

B.B. King's Blues Club--sounds cool, now that PI Jazz Club is gone and CityJazz is all comedy and karaoke. Memphis specialties with the music.

All in all, decidely more upscale than the current tenants. (Of course, with Hooters and Lulu's Bait Shack, you can only go up.) Probably banking on convention goers and those who visit the Premium Outlets and need something to do afterward. They're shooting for openings in mid-2006 through the end of that year, so don't call for reservations just yet. No mention of anything else closing, or Pac Man Cafe reopening.

where is pointe orlando?
It's at the southern end of I-Drive near the Convention Center.

We've not bothered with the Pointe these past few trips - it increasingly seems like a ghost town. Some of these sound worth a visit, though.

This is great news. The Capital Grille is my favorite steakhouse and I have heard only wonderful things about the Oceanaire. I am sure that the other 2 will be fabulous too.

Thanks for sharing.
