Our afternoon was spent watching Disney On Ice. Kinda fun. I took may camera and got about 4 shots before my camera died. I thought I had brought the extra battery but it wasn't in it's little case thingy.... rather it was still home in the plug in charger. Oh well. For a change I got to watch the show instead of concentration on taking pictures. . Sat beside a man whose after shave just about made me sick and in front of a kid who kept kicking me and turning on his noisy light up spinning toy. At least we had really good seats so if I concentrated really hard on the show I could almost ignore most of the other distractions. Oh yeah, if you go ask how much the souvenir cup is before you order it from the walk around vendors. DH grabbed 2 for us... 20 bucks! And they are not even dishwasher safe! Came home with a killer headache so I'm not really reflecting on the trip at all cheery right now.
I think I have to amend my comparison of my DH to a dwarf. He is actually more of a combo of Dopey, Goofy and Grumpy.
racetrack18kb, of course we knew you meant DH is sweet and kind hearted! What else could you have possibly meant?

Glad the tornados dodged you!
pepperw23, I am glad to know that someone knows of someone that stays offsite and who enjoyed themselves. I've read about them and I intend to be one of them! With all the rentals in the WDW there must be a lot of people who do not always stay onsite. If money was no object I would probably stay right there on Disney property too. It just so happens for this trip a house is what is gonna work for us.
So, how was your "virtual vacation"?
DL55, for the most part I didn't think most people were being overly snippy. Just the fact that several of them seemed so single minded that I felt the need to defend my decision which was what annoyed me a bit. I'm better today. My thread has already descended to page 5 so it may die a quick death anyway! I may check into the Whoop De Do. It sounds like something at least some of us would like. I'll just drag the others along with me!
MagiKitty, how many times have you stayed offsite? Do you have a favorite place? There are so many choices! We could probably swing staying onsite but I am a tightwad and really my family just does not put that much stock into staying in a luxury hotel. We are more likely to spend extra on meals or souvineers.
I am sure we will be fine with the driving. DH has a very good sense of direction and I am pretty good too. The house we are staying at looks to be pretty direct to one of the main roads so I don't forsee any problems. Amen to the extra tvs! We usually sit down and watch a movie all together while we eat supper. After that DD and I will probably fall asleep but the guys will have their own tvs to watch whatever they want. DD likes to watch the Disney channel in the morning so we have always enjoyed having tvs in each room. We will have 5 tvs this time! Nothing like having plenty of entertainment and space for our kids to spread out at the end of a long, tiring day!
It really wouldn't take but one bad experience on a bus to put my DH in a bad mood for the whole trip. People person he is not. I'm not even sure he likes us sometime!

Also he is such a control freak I think he will much prefer being in charge of when we come and go. Needless to say, those are a few more reasons I opted not to rely on Disney transportation.
BKMETV, wise advice...take and ignore. I like it!
Thanks for the hint about TGM being a scary place. I'll be on guard! I've barely even scratched the surface there yet so I haven't even ventured to their forum so far. This WDW research stuff is a lot more complicated than any that I ever have done for DL! Thank heavens I have 8 months to make plans. I will keep the green days in mind for sure. It already looks like I may have to convince the ranks that going to MK the first day may not be the best option. Right now I am going from last year's schedule. Here's hoping that when the calendar is updated for December we will get lucky and hit a green day for MK on our first day.
Hi
Bopsmom! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It sounds like you have been a busy girl lately!
YIPPEE for
whgrn! I am in AWE!

Really! I have got to do something myself. Currently I am at the most I have ever weighed.
NOT GOOD!

Got any good tips?
Hope you find the camera!
LivinInTheCastle, I hope your tooth gets feeling better before you have to head to the dentist.
D&DDisney, Oh yeah, it's easy to offer encouragement and advice to others. But I still have a hard time taking my own advice when my own kid is the one driving me batty! Thankfully, they are going easy on me today!
Pikester, thanks for your input. I am planning to expect MK to be huge. Guess there's still nothing like really being there. I am thinking we will just take in one park per day and no hopping so as to minimize the amount of time we spend traveling between parks. It is good to know that even if we have our own vehicle we can still use the Disney transportation if we so desire. I've already got a
AAA parking pass so we will be able to park closer to the front, even though we will still have to pay the parking fee but I am positive we will enjoy having our own car enough to outweigh the expense of parking.
Corny jokes and slapstick... right up our alley! Hoop-Dee-Doo here we come! I think my bunch would probably like Sci-Fi too. At least we are gonna give it a try. I don't think I've heard or read about Whispering Canyon Cafe. I will check into that one too. We will have to compare notes when our trips get closer and see if we will be in the same park on any of the same days. Maybe we can at least meet up and say hi.
Night all.... gonna go sleep if I can sleep my headache away.
