pepper, that thread was great! But boy do I feel old now. Yep, I was the remote in our house too. And up until about 10 years ago, my parents still had the big old fashioned tv with a newer on sitting on top of it. I think half my family did.

D&D, I feel your pain with the sick kids. We go through that at least once a year. The 3 of them that are in school are in different schools so it's 3 times the viruses coming home. It will get better soon enough. Until then, here's a little . Oh yeah, did you watch the race? Did you see that crew guy run across pit road and the grass? Not smart at all.
Mom would hang the laundry out to dry too in the summer...heck just about anytime it wasn't cold enough to freeze. But all "undies" were hung over the upstairs railing. Thank goodness we didn't get too many unexpected visitors.

I missed the crew person chasing the tire. DH was flipping channels every so often and I got busy doing other things.
I love that your undies were strung across the railings in your house.

Yeah! That guy running after the tire got a talking to when he got back to the pits too. Most of the race was boring. How can so many get laps down? They kept saying what a good race it was going to be with side by side racing and I thought most of it was just boring. Can you believe they advertized for Bristol tickets? Man would I love to go there.

MY DH said the same thing. He said that due to the economy many tracks are disounting tickets quite a bit to get folks to fill the seats. I remember the days when it was impossible to get tickets AT ALL for some of the races. Luckily I worked for a battery company that sponcered NASCAR and got tickets to Michigan. Thought we were in heaven. DH would love to get tickets to Talledega (Sp?) but its my DS's birthday that weekend.

Pepper - I liked that tread too. I remember those days. Also remember putting foil on the rabbit ears to get more stations. Once, we were lucky enough to get in HBO for a few days. Parents said no one could touch the TV or antena - kinda like on Friends when Joey and Chandler got free porn for a while.

DS is still sick. Poor guy was up most of the night with a high fever. Now I am ready for a nap.

Pepper---Thanks for the memories. Sat am tv was really great back in the day....I remember having a green plastic thing I could stick to the tv and draw on with the show. There were great cowboy movies on too. And of course you had to love Lassie and Rin Tin Tin. Believe it or not, I caught some Sky King shows last year on tv. I think it was a local cable channel. They had Lassie on today.

We were lucky. We lived close enough to LA to get their signals so we had a whole 7 channels to choose from. We kids had an old black and white TV. Watched Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Lassie and of course the Mickey Mouse Club.

We got 4 channels--2, 4, 5 and 7. Rabbit ears and all, black and white. My mom won a little black and white set at a downtown store, and that replaced the old one with the bubble tube. Our first color TV came when I was 7 or 8. It wa such a big deal! When we moved, we got a few more channels, but I sure remember the big dial that turned the antenna up on the roof.
The first show I ever remember watching was The Flintstones. And Saturday morning cartoons were GREAT--Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry. Heck, that's how we were all exposed to classical music!

We used to watch The Wonderful World of Disney. The first "grown up" TV show I remember watching was "The F.B.I.", with Efram Zimbalist Jr. "Names have been changed to protect the innocent..." We watched that with Daddy.

When we got our new color TV, the old black and white one, which was much smaller, got moved up to our playroom. That's where we used to watch "The Brady Bunch"!! I LOVED that show, and "The Partridge Family". Ahh, I was such a child of the 70s!

My house now has 4 TVs for 3 people and one dog. The big flat screen HDTV in the living room, a smaller flat screen for the kids, an older style one in my room, and an old, tiny one in the guest room that almost never gets watched. Doesn't even have a digital TV box attached!

The funny thing is, the only things I really watch on TV are FOX news and Jay Leno. Other than that, my TVs get no use. The kids watch more on theirs, but not much.

My only knowledge of classical music comes from watching Bugs Bunny cartoons.

With all these channels we have now and there's really not that much on worth watching. We had more to watch when we had fewer channels. With that said...I want a new flat screen tv. Maybe a 32 inch. I have 2 older tv's. One I cannot program in the channels. I just hate having to punch in the number on the remote. I'm checking the tv guide listings in the internet to see if there's anything on. If I ask mom, she always says nothing. I do like the Amazing Race but missed it so far this season. I guess I need to start back with AI since they've gotten down. Anyone watching Dancing...?

Glad I could conjure up some great TV memories! OMG, I had totally forgotten about the Wonderful World of Disney. We used to watch it every Sunday (I think Sunday)

Remember "Specials" and you would get all excited when the "Special" music would play?

My fave shows when I was around 8 or so was the Saturday night line up: Love Boat, Fantasy Island and Alice. I use to watch it with my Great-Aunt and Uncle (Saturday was date night for my parents, and we LOVED being with my Great Aunt and Uncle because they spoiled us rotten ha ha.)

Good evening all. Those TV memories are so funny. Don't laugh, but we still have a rotor-antenna on our roof. We have been living here since 1989 and never had cable before. We finally had to get it if I wanted to have the internet. We live to far from the hub to even get dial-up

D&DDisney~ Sorry that your DS is still sick. I know it's the pits.

whgrn~ I loved the Flintstones too. Did you know that Fred and Barney were based on Jackie Gleason and Art carney. This was also the first cartoon to go "Prime time".

pepper~ I remember that on Sunday nights around 6:00 it would be bath time. I knew that The Wonderful World of Disney would be on at 7:00. My brother and I couldn't wait to get our Popcorn and get ready for the show.

OMG Pepper you sent me down memory lane...yes we had the pliers to change the channels on our black & white...my kids stare at me blankly when I tell them that one.

That would have been luxury we only had 2 channels and one of the was french!

I do remember rushing through Sunday dinner to make sure to catch Disney...especially when it was continued from the week before...Saturday if we were lucky we got to eat dinner while watching Bug Bunny.

It's been a very long day so I think I'll have to veg and watch idol.
