D&D, we don't usually do anything special for Valentine's day. DH usually buys me a card and I cook him one of his favorite dinners but that's about it. Though he surprised me this year. He went out and bought me 2 new Kyle Busch tshirts. All on his own too...no hinting involved. :cloud9: And yes, I already have them....had to have them for the start of the season.
Now that's love. See...he's not so bad. ;)

It is counting(the numbers in the siggie)done in sign language.

Wow...you're so smart. :worship: That's why we have you here. :thumbsup2

Ev - Love that poem/email you got. So true!:rotfl2:

Hey Bopsmom! Thanks for clearing up one of our questions. Now I just need to know what list she is talking about.

D&D, yeah, he gets it right sometimes. Can't ask a man for more than that. :lmao:

Whew! I just blew in (literally!) from WalMart. I swear it's gotta be 50mph with higher gusts. It sounds like the roar of a freight train! I'm afraid to let the doggie out--he's only 11 pounds, and might really blow away!

No rain yet, but supposedly we'll get some later. Figures--i got the car washed!

We still have the wind too. I went the old roads to get mom today...didn't want Patrick blowing off the big roads going 65! Some lines were down. Lots of recycle bins/trash in the streets. I didn't put mine out but have 2 green bins in my yard! Had a nice lunch. My 'other' mom said she enjoys getting out with us. She's 87 and still drives around town here.

Gotta watch races....

I see Racetrack isn't on now...I'm just checking to see if the bragging started yet. #18 won one of the races today...She's going to be over the top...I think that poster was right...I must have a list somewhere!

I just got this vision of you outside in your red sweater saying--Toto, We're not in NJ anymore!

LOL! Actually, I DID say to him, "Dukie, be careful, we're not in Kansas anymore!"

Hehehe! And that's all I'm going to say.

Wind was terrible here today. DH had to work out in it today. On the roof!! They gave him off yesterday because of a chance of rain but make him work today. :sad2:

Hi guys! Just dropped in to say hello.

Hope the wind dies down for ya'll soon. Is everyone ok? I hope everyone is feeling better.

It seems our weather is a day or so ahead. We had the wind and storms but the weather is beautiful once it passes.:goodvibes

Totally out of the loop on the races but, fun to watch ya'll have at it.:thumbsup2

I've re-upped at the District. (heave sigh) so I guess that I will be going back to work soon: just a day or so a week this time.
The Principal called and asked me to come back. I will be glad when the general population(really, really bad kids)is removed next year and it is all academy students. People will be lining up to sub there then...I want to have my place.

It's a love/hate kinda job but, I figured in this economy I want to do my bit-it couldn't hurt ya' know.

Yeah...it's good to keep that foot in the door. My district uses a sub service to call subs. I had to put my name in there. They are still calling me for jobs I am not qualified for and won't do. I know for a sub, they get down to the bottom and are desperate. They can really use anyone if they called the qualified ones first. I decided I could use the 72 I clear for a days work. But there are only 3 people I can sub for so I don't get much work!

ITA- It's not like I wouldn't spend the money. I saw on GMA they were telling people who were out of work to ' just, go be a sub', like it is that easy.:lmao:

I will 'book in advance' with the teachers now.
Before I had to take whatever was there, unless there was more than 1 teacher out; then I got to choose. The school has had a very bad reputation for years and no one wanted to sub there. It just was bad because, if another teacher needed to leave early or whatever I would have to cover that class too. Some took way too much advantage. That was one of the reasons I left.

The school was going to be closed down until they decided to create an academy. They have been phasing in grades; one per year.
So far, all 6th and 7th grade is Academy-that leaves the 8th graders now-they are terrible!:scared1: So much so, they have to treat them like prisoners. The mantra has become-'just one more year'.

When word gets out how great the academy kids are (and they really are) and the class ratio is 16:1 everyone will want to sub there.

Why only 3 people may I ask? What subjects do you like to sub for? Are you certified, in what subjects?

M&N - In my dream life I will have some day, I'd like to teach. But, I'm not sure how to work it all out w/ going back to school, etc. (I say dream life b/c since all of our bennies are thru me, I need to keep working... not to mention the salary... and I'm not sure if I can handle the schedule here, plus 2 little kiddies, plus school. So, DHs situation really has to change before mine can, I think... or, it may be an excuse b/c I fear change.) I do like my work now. I really love lighting design, but its a very physical job, and I don't think its something I'll want to do until I'm old and grey (or old-er and grey-er :rotfl: ) Plus, I worry about what would happen if (God forbid) I got hurt and couldn't handle it anymore. I've thought about the possibility of teaching part time somehow while I completed a degree/certification. If you don't mind enlightening me... what are the requirements for subbing in PA. Can you get some sort of temporary cert while you are studying for yours? etc.

I'll try and answer both posts. I was an elem librarian for 35 yrs and thought that was enough for me! I only have agreed to sub in my old district so that's why only 3 people...only 3 elem librarians. They don't get subs for MS/HS librarians. My district goes thru a sub service. I could sub for any subject because I have a PA teaching certificate. They are supposed to ask those certified in that area 1st but you know how that goes. My librarians do request me when they call just to make sure I get called but doesn't always work. I did have to miss some with my mom's appointments but that's no big deal to me. I think you also have to be Act 48 compliant---which I will not be in 3 years. I think my past credits are good for 5 yrs and I sure do not want to spend money for credits just to earn 85 every now and then.
I looked through my papers and saw there is an emergency certificate if you have a bachelors degree or better and are actively working toward PA cert.
Bopsmom---Middle schoolers :scared1: me! Best wishes...
Lighttech---have you thought of preschool? I don't think their requirements as as bad. It may not be full time though and have bennies either. Look at it this way---you are giving the 2 most important kids in the world an education only a loving mommy can give them. That will pay off big time.
