Four-mer TKers...4 one, 4 all, 4 ever

Evening ladies! I only got growled at twice today so that wasn't too bad. DH finally got around to asking if something was wrong and when I told him I was pretty tired of getting yelled at he made a feeble attempt at an apology. Didn't seem very heartfelt but coming from him any apology is a near miracle... some excuse about having an off day. Anyway, whgrn, I am pretty sure you are right. If I got rid of him all my PMS would suddenly disappear! However, I am on my third go round so I have tried very hard to put more effort into it than I did with the first two. Must be working since we have made it to 19 years. Granted he is much better than the other 2 in so many ways.... but still a pain in the neck in others sometimes.

DL55, I remember CCR! Who would have thought that they still did concerts. There seems to be a lot of bands still touring. I can't imagine that some of those guys from way back when can still hop around on the stage like they used to!

DS decided he would LET us have a night off from Jiu-Jitsu. Actually he said after 4 days straight that even he was tired so we are all getting rested up this evening. Nothing to do is so nice every once in a while!

Woah, I just made my 1800 post. And on the 1100th reply to this thread. Yay me!!! :rotfl2:

Marie, men don't apologize... they kiss up. :lmao: :lmao: I remember CCR too and I even know what it stands for.

DL55, my parents were great about concerts. I consider myself very lucky with that. Still have all my ticket stubs too. Too bad none of my kids know any of the bands I used to see.

Congrats on the 1800th post racetrack!

Generally my DH doesn't apologize or kiss up. He just is what he is. A grumpy old man. Ever notice how they don't show you these things until it's too late?

Aaah, the old concerts. I went to quite a few back when. I can't honestly remember if my mom let me go or if I snuck to them. Probably a little of both. So who all did you go see racetrack? I think it is way too early this morning for me to remember everyone but I know during my rock stage I saw Queen and Styx both several times and Aerosmith,Van Halen and REO Speedwagon and later during my country stage, Don Williams and George Strait. When I was much younger I even went with the whole family and saw ELVIS!

BTW, CCR stands for Creedance Clearwater Revival.

My DS loves the older music from my era. I don't understand why but he says that the modern stuff stinks. His favorites are Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin. I think it's pretty cool that I actually know most of the music he plays.

I don't remember much Super Bowl talk??? How about those commercials? Anyone have any they liked? Didn't like?

I like the Bud ones of course---those horses are great. I also like the one with the lady bug and others who took the drink--Pepsi or Coke??? I just thought it was very creative but now am drawing a blank about the rest of it. I would have liked to see it again. For many though, once was enough.

Well, I only watched about the last 10 minutes of the game, so i watched all the commercials on YouTube yesterday (http://www.youtube.com/adblitz

Most were totally stupid. The one with the bugs was cute and well done. I always seem to like the Clydesdales the best (last year--Rocky). Some were borderline offensive, especially if you were watching with kids.

Here's a link to my favorite. No surprise if you know me!

Well, it's snowing pretty good here, but the ground is so warm from yesterday's 55 degrees that it won't stick to the roads and so I don't mind it at all. It actually looks kinda pretty!

Afternoon!!! It's still snowing here too but, like whgrn, it's a very pretty snow that isn't sticking to any of the streets. I could like with snow like this all the time.

Marie, I've seen Aerosmith 2x, Rod Stewart, REO, Hall & Oates, Rick Springfield, The Monkees, and lots of heavy metal bands in the 80's including Ozzy Osbourne.

whgrn, I liked the commercial you posted the link for. I didn't see too many of them. And what I did see, didn't seem too great.

racetrack18kb Gee you got to see the Monkees. I'm jealous :p I remember seeing Bette Midler, Linda Ronstadt, Elton John. Since we've all become old I've see Elton John, Neil Diamond, Peter Noone and Beach Boys (not all original members). CCR is now Revisited as not all are original members. Also saw Peter Noone when he toured with Bobby Sherman and Davy Jones.
I always like the Clydesdales. :cloud9:
Just got back from Denny's and their free Grand Slam. They were pretty organized. Not typical of things around here. :)

I agree with your comments about the commercials. I thought maybe it was just me! I hadn't seen anything on the DIS about them.

If only it just snowed and stuck to the grass and trees. That's my favorite kind too. We were spared this time.

Evening all. :rockband: I haven't been to many concerts. The first one is when I went with my girlfriend to UNH and saw the "Birds". The next one was a bunch of bands playing for the "JIMMIE FUND". I was young and dating my DH at the time. To much partying to remember much. When we were in Jr. High, there was this small band was starting out and they would play at our school dances. We knew they would be big someday. However, I don't think Aerosmith would do it again. Steve Tyler has a house on Lake Sunapee and does shop the local stores, including the farmers markets.

The only Super Bowl commercials I like are the Bud ones. I guess its the horses and dogs that get to me every time.

We doen't seem to be getting any snow at all this time.

I Still have a cough that I can't shake. I hope everyone is feeling better.

racetrack~ 1800 posts. YOU GO Girl !!!!!!

M&N~ :rotfl2: So true.

Still snowing here. And it's starting to stick to the roads a little bit. Just enough to make it start to get slick.

DL55-I would love to see Bette Midler and Elton John. If I ever get the chance, I'd have to find someone to go with me. There's no way in heck that DH would go with me. :lmao: I saw the Monkees on their 20th reunion tour which would have been while I was in high school. Yep, I was one of the cool kids. :rotfl2:

Sukie, so Steven Tyler has a house up your way? When can I come to visit? :goodvibes

whgrn, I always said you are smart. :thumbsup2

Well whaddaya know? I'm a genius!!:lmao:

I knew some of us TKers would enjoy that. You just learn so much on this thread.
OK genius. I went to the fitness center at the retirement village here. I don't think the seniors want to call it a gym. :) The community can join it now. I thought I would feel better going there than one where my former students could be. Another retired teacher met me there. I got instructions for the treadmill and the bike. She just had me do it for 5 min each. Then she showed me several stretches and cool down things. They want me to work up to 30 min on the machines and then the stretches. Do you think this is reasonable? I wanted to learn the eliptical but she didn't show it to me. She said after a week, I could add other things. I'm supposed to go at least 2 times, 3 times better, a week. I was thinking I may be able to do 4. If I take earphones, I can listen to the tv's they have around or I can take cd's and use my earphones. I guess I'll have to find a good pace for me to use. She really would not say...just do whatever feels comfortable. Do you think I should write down my times and speeds? I don't want to get into any race but I thought that would help me know I'm improving. When I just walked around the neighborhood, I had no idea if I was doing any good or not. The big step will be for me to weigh myself. She didn't say a word about this but for my benefit, I need to do this. Words of wisdom welcome...

My biggie concert was The Lovin' Spoonful. I think I was still in high school. They came to F&M. My friend and I were very brave to go there alone. :)

Good morning ladies!

I just wanted to join the concert discussion. I have only ever been to two concerts. Yup, just two and they were both for AC/DC. I saw both concerts during the same tour and that was in my early twenties. I am so :sad2: .

We watched the Superbowl here but I didn't really pay much attention to it or the commercials. I was too busy DISing.

Have a good one!

I'm getting ready to go to the fitness center. I would rather be in bed. I got a 6:45 call to sub but said no! Me and high school math.

They didn't see my grades.

The sun is out. I only got a little covering of snow last night but some places in the county got 12 inches. Yes---it was a shocker to the weatherman too. It was like a band that was about 8 miles wide. Glad it missed me.

DL55, you reminded me that I had also went to a Beach Boys concert. My roommate and I saw them after a Rangers games. How could I have forgotten them? Those were some good times!

M&N, have a good workout!

Pikester, good morning to you too! And anyone else out there! :wave2:

I think it sounds reasonable. I started out at about 5 minutes, too. I would say find a pace that is comfortable and work on increasing your time. When you get to 30 minutes, start increasing your speed/incline/resistance. Make sure you do stretch. And yes, keep track of what you're doing so you can see your progress!

Racetrack, I'll go see Elton with you ANYTIME!!

Well, we ended up with about 4 inches of snow. And the guy who has cleared my driveway and sidewalk for the last 5 years didn't come and do it. Don't know why. So this morning I spent about 30 minutes calling every snow removal service and landscaper i could find, and no one does residential plowing. finally, I got a brilliant idea, and called MY landscaper (who was pretty worthless, but i was desperate). he'll be out today to do my plowing! Woohoo!!

My kids had a 2 hour delay, which we knew last night when they went to bed, so that worked out well. I am just vegging today until about 2 when my sister will grace me with her presence for a short time. they go back to Turkey tomorrow. My kids get out of school at 3, will be home by about 3:20, and my sister will leave here by 4. Nothing like a tease. Oh well, not in my control. I know she would have preferrred it if WE came to THEM, but DS has a guitar lesson at 6, so by the time we got there, we'd have to turn around and come back.

Have a good day everyone.

This sounds reasonable. Gradually increase your time once you get up to 30 minutes you can increase your speed. :thumbsup2 It's a morale booster to record your times then see how much you have progressed. I think you should do 3x a week at first. I've heard if you go three days without exercising it's like starting over.

racetrack18kb Heck you didn't see the Monkees when they were young and cute! :lmao: As I was only 11 yrs old, my parents wouldn't take me to see them. :p

We can have a Elton TKer meet!
I guess your sister is there. Tough luck on what she would have preferred. You can have what you prefer too! :snooty: Nothing wrong with that.

Hey...since when does age have to do with cuteness? It might keep me from jumping and screaming (at least the jumping part :lmao: ) but cuteness is in the eyes of the beholder...if they can overlook my wrinkles, I can overlook theirs. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the reinforcement for exercising...I did the bike for 12 min but walked for 20--which was only 1/2 mile. I didn't do it fast since I had done the bike. It was a recumbant (?) bike and in measured steps. After I got done, I realized I had the resistance up more than she had me do but it didn't seem hard. I did find out that more seniors go at 11 before lunch. I was the youngest there for a while!

Hello All,

Just chiming in about concerts...

I used to go to a ton of concerts in the 80s & 90s. Our big Summer Fest in Milwaukee has some great acts every year. My very first one was "Kool & the Gang" but I have been to...
REO
Chicago
Garth Brooks
Michael W Smith
Phil Collins
Journey
Billy Joel
Kenny Loggins
Def Leppard
Lionel Richie
Mr. Mister
All those fun 80s bands/singers. It was a blast. Haven't been to a concert in years though.

Racetrack - Congrats on 1800 posts. :cheer2:
