Popping in late as usual... after everyone else has called it a night.
racetrack18kb, I am familiar with the Dole Whip. Certainly worthy of having one per trip but not something I couldn't live without. Per your suggestion I wrote myself a note to check out the World Showcase for good things to try.
whgrn, glad you liked the look of our Retreat! The house was very reasonable. I really appreciated the fact that she gave a discount for staying 2 weeks. After going through tons of quotes I found it interesting that some would offer discounts and some thought their property so amazing they were not about to budge on their rates. There are SO many choices of where to stay I would think they would have to give a little here and there to be competitive because believe me guests can always move along and find something even cheaper! I decided we would settle for mid range which still was a great deal to me.
DL55, I figure if there is a time to splurge a little on snacks it would be while we are on vacation. As of yet I have never came home heavier than I left. On average in DL we walk about 10 miles a day so I guess that keeps it at bay. I do look for treats I REALLY like but really don't end up going overboard. Creme Brulee is my one major weakness at DL. They don't have a Blue Bayou at WDW, right? So I will have to keep my eyes peeled on the menus until I find some elsewhere!
Good luck getting DH to listen to you! I've been trying to get mine to listen to me for 19 years and it ain't got any better yet!
MagiKitty, YEAH! You have been to a bunch of the places on my list! Without giving too much away, were Wonderworks, the Titanic exhibit and the Holy Land Experience worth going to see? Which beach did you go to? I am thinking that Cocoa beach is probably the easiest to access. Plus I found DS a Cold Stone Creamery on the way which would make him quite happy.
DH will be happy to hear about the churros! Every time he stops he will buy 3 at a time. He bragged on himself last year when he slacked off and didn't eat as many. Funny thing was that after he was passed up churros in one spot he would stop somewhere else and grab a gingerbread cookie instead! I guess those slipped his mind. Silly hubby!
Thanks for the suggestions for the chocolate covered cherries. Luckily I do not have a weakness for all things chocolate... just those strawberries and I didn't even get one last year.
Oh boy! There's a Lucy exhibit in DHS! I love Lucy! I have so much new stuff to look forward to!
So how was your Battlestar Galactica Marathon? Good that you and your BF enjoy some of the same shows. Good to hang out at home and enjoy each others company, especially if you are not big socialites. I can relate to that because my family really doesn't like to get out and be too social either.... well, except for my 8 year old DD. I am not sure where her genes came from!
LivinInTheCastle, I am glad you approve of the house too!

I think we will enjoy it. I might not mind staying on property but good Lord it is expensive! In our case we always get 2 rooms because my DH snores like a big old bear. I cannot sleep in the same room with him. Romantic, I know. In the meantime, I get the chance to snuggle with my DD when we stay in a strange place because she gets scared. I love to watch her sleep and hear her breath. She's so sweet! Anyway, with the house DH can snore away, I get good sleep, the kids can spread out and we still have room if some of DS's friends show up.
Oh boy! Taking more notes! Funnel cakes and smoothies sound good. DS claimed turkey legs as his favorite food last year so he will be delighted to find them. And DD will be pleased to find the ice cream cookie sandwiches. I have read other positive comments about Earl of Sandwich so it will be on our to try list if we hit Downtown Disney. I am NOT a shopper but I may take my DD to do some of her Christmas shopping while we are there.
43 days for you! Whoo-hoo! That is going to fly by!
I've worked in the small family business too. Sometimes it was nice. Other times it really sucked! I hope things calm down soon so you are not too stressed at work.
BKMETV, I can just imagine how a 14 year old can turn your house into crazy land! I get it with an 8 year old!
Oh yeah, I heard mention of it the other day and I know I have heard of it before..... what is Pal Mickey?
That's all for me... even I am gonna call it a night!
