Thanks for the recap. I might dig out my season 1 dvds and watch them this weekend.

Yeah, lucky M&N is in sunny Florida right now. :snooty:

That sounds like fun. I got seasons 1 and 2 out of the library and just watched and watched for days one time. It was so funny to see them so young!

Luvky M&N!

I'm thinking my oldest DD will like it. She's really gotten into intense, serious shows and movies lately. Would be nice to rediscover ER with her.

Popping in late as usual... after everyone else has called it a night.

racetrack18kb, I am familiar with the Dole Whip. Certainly worthy of having one per trip but not something I couldn't live without. Per your suggestion I wrote myself a note to check out the World Showcase for good things to try.

whgrn, glad you liked the look of our Retreat! The house was very reasonable. I really appreciated the fact that she gave a discount for staying 2 weeks. After going through tons of quotes I found it interesting that some would offer discounts and some thought their property so amazing they were not about to budge on their rates. There are SO many choices of where to stay I would think they would have to give a little here and there to be competitive because believe me guests can always move along and find something even cheaper! I decided we would settle for mid range which still was a great deal to me.

DL55, I figure if there is a time to splurge a little on snacks it would be while we are on vacation. As of yet I have never came home heavier than I left. On average in DL we walk about 10 miles a day so I guess that keeps it at bay. I do look for treats I REALLY like but really don't end up going overboard. Creme Brulee is my one major weakness at DL. They don't have a Blue Bayou at WDW, right? So I will have to keep my eyes peeled on the menus until I find some elsewhere!
Good luck getting DH to listen to you! I've been trying to get mine to listen to me for 19 years and it ain't got any better yet!

MagiKitty, YEAH! You have been to a bunch of the places on my list! Without giving too much away, were Wonderworks, the Titanic exhibit and the Holy Land Experience worth going to see? Which beach did you go to? I am thinking that Cocoa beach is probably the easiest to access. Plus I found DS a Cold Stone Creamery on the way which would make him quite happy.

DH will be happy to hear about the churros! Every time he stops he will buy 3 at a time. He bragged on himself last year when he slacked off and didn't eat as many. Funny thing was that after he was passed up churros in one spot he would stop somewhere else and grab a gingerbread cookie instead! I guess those slipped his mind. Silly hubby!
Thanks for the suggestions for the chocolate covered cherries. Luckily I do not have a weakness for all things chocolate... just those strawberries and I didn't even get one last year.
Oh boy! There's a Lucy exhibit in DHS! I love Lucy! I have so much new stuff to look forward to!
So how was your Battlestar Galactica Marathon? Good that you and your BF enjoy some of the same shows. Good to hang out at home and enjoy each others company, especially if you are not big socialites. I can relate to that because my family really doesn't like to get out and be too social either.... well, except for my 8 year old DD. I am not sure where her genes came from!

LivinInTheCastle, I am glad you approve of the house too! ;) I think we will enjoy it. I might not mind staying on property but good Lord it is expensive! In our case we always get 2 rooms because my DH snores like a big old bear. I cannot sleep in the same room with him. Romantic, I know. In the meantime, I get the chance to snuggle with my DD when we stay in a strange place because she gets scared. I love to watch her sleep and hear her breath. She's so sweet! Anyway, with the house DH can snore away, I get good sleep, the kids can spread out and we still have room if some of DS's friends show up.

Oh boy! Taking more notes! Funnel cakes and smoothies sound good. DS claimed turkey legs as his favorite food last year so he will be delighted to find them. And DD will be pleased to find the ice cream cookie sandwiches. I have read other positive comments about Earl of Sandwich so it will be on our to try list if we hit Downtown Disney. I am NOT a shopper but I may take my DD to do some of her Christmas shopping while we are there.
43 days for you! Whoo-hoo! That is going to fly by!
I've worked in the small family business too. Sometimes it was nice. Other times it really sucked! I hope things calm down soon so you are not too stressed at work.

BKMETV, I can just imagine how a 14 year old can turn your house into crazy land! I get it with an 8 year old!

Oh yeah, I heard mention of it the other day and I know I have heard of it before..... what is Pal Mickey?

That's all for me... even I am gonna call it a night!

Morning Ladies...Spring is finally here....:flower3: ...just need to convince the weather man...it's sunny here but still cold.

Marie - LOVE the house it will be a great base for your trips. We stayed on the ocean south of Cocoa B quite a few years ago and the beach was beautiful. Be sure to go to Ron Jon's Surf shop...it's a great place to poke through.

Earl of Sandwich is definitely worth the trip...they had a special Christmas sandwich when we were there...turkey, stuffing, cranberry, gravy and mayo...it's making me hungry just thinking about it!

Also enjoyed Flametree BBQ in AK for a quick meal.

Kids are all on the Wii but I think I'll kick them outside soon...it's sunny afterall.

Happy Battlestar Galactica day! Oh, and its Friday. I'm getting better at this Catholic thing. Actually planned ahead and bought breaded flounder for dinner. Mmm...excited to pair that with baked potato and broccoli.

I thought ER was SO well done last night. I liked Neela and I didn't see the twist at the end coming. I'm so happy for her! Ray has definitely grown into a man.

Does anyone know what happened to Malucci on ER? I totally forgot about him!

Marie, I really, really wanted to enjoy the Holy Land Experience. I love anything that's educational. I went a few years ago. And I just didn't think that the park was well thought out. They did have a few cool experiences, I particularly remember this miniature layout of Jerusalem during Jesus' time. They also have re-enactments of the hours before the Crucifixion which I thought was a little too graphic. Overall, it wasn't a good experience. It felt forced rather than heartfelt. Definitely a half-day thing. We went in the morning and had lunch at the Mall of Millenia nearby.

I really like Wonderworks. It WAS a fun, educationtial experience. I liked Titanic too, but I thought it was overpriced. Didn't enjoy Ripley's at all. I like International Drive at night. If you're there, try to go to Cafe Tu Tu Tango. Yummy food and some stuff you'll only see in Florida. I ate crocodile! And it was really, really good.

I also always recommed getting something at Dessert Lady on Kirkman drive, near Universal. They have a fantastic cake sampler. WHile you're there, try to hit Bubbalous barbecue aroud the corner. Great food for really cheap and well worth it if you're in the area.

We did go to Cocoa Beach. We went there in the morning, did Cape Canaveral after lunch, and did a sunset gambling cruise at night. If it were just adults, I'd highly recommend the cruise. Its free, you just have to make a reservation. The boat leaves and is out to sea for three/four hours, b/c they have to gamble on international waters. They serve several mini-buffets and on the top floor (there are four) there is a lounge with live music. But the free views of the ocean were wonderful! We didn't even gamble too much, although some of us partook of the free drinks.

I love Earl of Sandwich. And while you're there, don't forget to stop and get some goodies at Goofy's Candy Shop! And I had a FANTASTIC creme brulee at Coral Reef, as well as a very yummy non-al pina colada. BF and I always get the smoothies at EPCOT--its near the shops in front of the lagoon on the right side, towards Canada. If you hit the McDonald's stand, you've gone too far. ALso the pastries at Norway were very yummy!

BF said to get the freshly made ice cream sandwiches. His absolute favorite. I think we used all our snack credits on them.

Ok, too hungry now. BF is willing to discuss free dining in October. Does anyone know that website where you can determine your 90 + 10 days out to make ADRs? We've decided to eat at the parks instead of running around. Although we enjoyed seeing the other restaurants at the hotels, it was just too stressful getting from the park to hotel and parking. Although I may make an exception for Boma.

Too much gabbing! Must get something done. Talk to you later everyone! Happy Friday to you all!

Nevermind! I found the dining calculator. Seems I can call for ADRs (I hope!) on July 2nd.

We're not doing the dining plan this trip in April. My nieces don't eat very much and I think they'll be too excited for a sit-down meal. I haven't told them about character dining...I feel kinda bad, but my wallet is already crying! So we'll just snack around the World and take pics whenever we run into characters...

Happy 1st day of Spring,

Okay... I started out watching ER but I always seem to fall asleep half way through. How did it end? The last thing I remember was Neela talking to Abby then

MK - How's that Battlestar Galactica marathon going? popcorn::

Racetrack - I am so torn about my pics for Sunday's race. I'm just not getting any good vibes this week. :confused3

Hi Marie & LITC

DS10's birthday is next weekend and I am going to experiment with making him a Lego cake. I'm using Fondant (sp?) instead of frosting. Anyone ever use that before? Going to try making Lego bricks out of cut up pieces of cake. Wish me luck.

Lighttech- Isn't your son's b-day coming up soon? :cake: I think I remember last year when you were working on the volcano cake and I was busy trying to make a tank.

Ev - sunny but cold here too. Hope things are calming down at your house.

Not me... :( At least, not in the foreseeable future.

You'll love the Alaska cruise--it's BEAUTIFUL!!!! When are you going? Which cruise line?

We're going on the Coral Princess (Princess line) the last week of August. I lost MagiKitty's quote. :magnify: We aren't very sociable either. (Notice how little I add to these discussions?) We have enjoyed our dining companions and it makes us practice our manners. :lmao: I've heard that with large tables it's easier than being at a table with only 1 or 2 other couples. Of course, if you really can't stand the people at your table you can request to change tables. We are trying anytime dining on this cruise. We just show up at the designated dining room during dinner hours. We can sit with others or sit by ourselves. There are activities going on but you don't have to participate. We like to watch though. popcorn:: I suggest a cruise to the Caribbean for first cruises. Better chance of finding an inexpensive one. I can't believe how much this has cost us so far. :scared1: And we haven't paid for excursions, souvenirs, or food for the land portion.:faint:

I haven't watched as much ER since Dr Greene character died. I usually watch reruns on cable.
Nice spring day here. I just know that we'll have a frost later. :headache:

DL55, we did Princess for our Alaska cruise too. i forget which one, but for some reason Star Princess sticks in my mind. It was just beautiful, everywhere we went, even when the weather was bad. The scenery up there is breathtaking!

The only time I've shared a table with anyone other than family is my 1st 2 cruises. The first time it was me, my sister and my cousin. We had great people at our table and kept in touch with them for a few years. The second time was my honeymoon and I don't remember anyone. Hmmmm, wonder why? Since then, all my cruises have been with the whole family (10 of us) or a group of 6, so we haven't shared our tables.

We all tended to keep to ourselves most of the time. We're social, but just with each other !:rotfl2:

Battlestar Galactica rocks! :thumbsup2

I'm a bit more social than BF...but that's not saying much. Also, people tend to think I'm his nurse, rather than his most beloved, so THAT'S uncomfortable in the beginning. And sometimes people initially think that BF is mentally challenged, so they tend to talk to me first, and that just gets BF angry. Its just weird all around. Once I start chatting, I'm ok. I just dont' like to make the first move...

Wendy, I'm with you! I'm social with those I already know! :rotfl:

MK, I HATE when people do that! Like, oh, you're "disabled", therefore you must be deaf, so I'll shout, and dumb, so I'll talk to the person with them as if they weren't there.

I know, Wendy, I know. I just try to look at it as a learning opportunity for people. Sometimes, people just don't know any better, and they're not intentioned to be offensive. I do feel bad for BF...we've been together for 4 years and it annoys me to no end, I can only imagine how its been for him all his life. Its part of the reason I love him so much. He has so much courage and such a great outlook on life. I'm very lucky to have such a pooper-head. Even if he has horrible taste in television! :lmao:

Evening!!! It was kind of cold here even though it was the first day of spring. We even had a few snowflakes.

It is hair dye weekend here. I just fixed DH's mohawk and am getting ready to bleach it. Tomorrow, we are going to dye it blue...bright blue. I'm doing mine tomorrow and it's going to either be a dark, dark purple color or a dark blue/black. Fun weekend ahead. :lmao:
