Four adults in the Contemporary?

I've never stayed at the Contemporary before, but I see they have an opening and I'd like to book it for a combined cruise/WDW trip this winter. We're going with another couple, so there are four adults.

Three of the four adults are fairly tall/large. We know the other couple pretty well, but we've never shared a hotel room with them. We're good friends, but we don't have an "it's OK if you see me in my underwear" sort of relationship with them.

It would be for 4-5 nights, and we'd be going to the parks each day. We have separate rooms for the cruise, but I was wondering how well four adults usually fit into a room at the Contemporary.

Has anyone shared the room with another couple? How tough was it to get going in the morning, with four people sharing a single bathroom? Is there a curtain or something so we could have space to get dressed privately without having to go into the toilet area one at a time to dress?

You'd have to dress in the bathroom. If you are not that comfortable in the room with the other couple, get two less expensive rooms.

hey when I share with a couple - I get a 2-bedroom villa. so they never see me in less clothes.

next time I will get 2 studios in separate building.

If I were college age or still living in that style; I'd probably be okay with it. And looking at the CR's bathroom there is a private toilet area in addition to a general bathroom door which might make life easier for 4 adults. But 4 or 5 nights sounds like a bit too much togetherness for me at this stage of my life. Things might be different for you! Also tell the Zsa Zsa Gabor of the group to mind not overdoing the luggage.

DH and I stayed with his parent at the Contemporary with our son (3 at the time) and I was 7 months pregnant with our daughter. Let me just say...that was the last time we shared a room! As good as it sounds now...you may not feel that way AFTER your trip!!

CR is a good choice if you are going to do this as the rooms are nice and large. The bathroom is separate with a door, and the toilet is separate from the bathroom, with another door. There is no curtain between the beds and it's hard to see how you'd rig one.

If you are really friendly, it might work. I usually say that I'd rather stay at a deluxe with four people in one room, than a value with two rooms. However, this might well be the exception to that!

Unless you are really, really good friends, I'd get two rooms. If, however, you want to do it, I would probably try to get the concierge level (or club level, or whatever it's called these days). That way, an early riser can dress and escape to the concierge room for the newspaper, coffee, etc. while others are sleeping, dressing etc.

Other possibilities (besides two rooms), a Fort Wilderness cabin, which sleeps four with privacy (although there is still only one bathroom), a deluxe concierge room at the Boardwalk Inn which sleeps 6 and would give you a bit more space, though no privacy, any Disney Vacation Club one bedroom (which would leave one couple sleeping in the king bed and one on the sofa bed -- not too fun) or DVC two bedroom, a two-bedroom suite at a deluxe resort (very, very pricey) . . . that's about all I can think of.

Good luck with your decision. I know DH could never be prevailed upon to do this -- but with the right attitude and alot of patience, it might be fun. Who knows? Alternatively, you might not be friends by the end of it. I think it could go either way.

For one night, it'd be okay I guess. The bathrooms at CR are quite roomy. But otherwise, probably not. The lack of privacy would be irksome, to say the least.

OK, you have all convinced me. This is kind of a "dream" trip for us--it's coming in front of the WPASADI cruise, and my first stay at the Contemporary after years of wanting to stay there. It's also a special trip for the other couple, since they're having a rough year and we're glad to help cheer them up.

It definitely sounds like sharing a room is... uh... less than dreamy, so I'll book a second room. Thanks for the honest opinions--I really appreciate it!

Although 5 adults fit, for privacy, dressing in the bathroom is a must. And to get to the toilet area you have to go through the sink/shower area, even though both have doors on them.

Good idea booking the 2nd room and have fun staying at the Contemporary.
