fountains & clothes?

I know when we travel to DD and Epcot my sons will want to try out the interactive fountains. How do you deal with this? Should I have them wear their swimsuits and a t-shirt and bring another pair of shorts, or carry it along to have them change? Where would they be able to change? And what about shoes, do you recommed they have something on their feet when going in these fountains or are bare feet fine? And what about drying off? I sure don't want to carry towels with me?

How does everyone else handle this?

Since it is still going to be warm when you go, you could sort of forgo the towels and let them "air dry" You could bring their suits in a ziploc bag and a small towel could fit in one of the 2 gallon size ziploc bags and then just go in your bag. I see lots of kids barefoot in the fountains, so I don't think that is a problem. We steered as far as we could from the fountains at Epcot last time as we knew we would never be able to get our 2 yo out of them if he got in them. LOL! But this next trip I think we will just plan on taking suits and a few hand towels. They can change in any of the bathrooms, so that shouldn't be a problem. Unless they stay in them a long time they really don't get all *that* wet. Just make sure their shoes stay dry! Wet shoes=blisters!

When we would go to Fountain Parks I packed water shoes and a clean T-shirt. When we got to the fountain she changed sneaks to water shoes and took off her shorts/shirt. (Bathing suit was underneath.) However, it rained alot so we only did this once at Disney.
(At Universal/IOA this was a MUST!) Also, due to the rain I mentioned, don't forget to pack rain ponchos!!! (This was not the 10-15 min. sprinklings, it was 2-3 hr downpours/thunder/lightning!)

kids love the fountains .my wife and i take our 2 year old grandson and we pack a swim suit and water shoes along with a towel.

Oh geeeeesssss! Those fountains! My kids LOVE those things. Forget Typhoon Lagoon, forget any rides, give them their fountains! We spent the whole day at Epcot when we went a couple of weeks ago (7/01). The first time we hit the fountains we had their bathing suits and gave them a quick change. They played for awhile and then we changed them back into their clothes. On the way out of the park (it was still hot and humid!) we just let them run around in the fountains with their clothes on.

My only suggestion is, as a courtesy to others, have your kids take their shoes off. On the really hot days those fountains get pretty packed and there isn't a height requirement. I don't want my big guys crushing anyone's little guy's feet, and I don't want my little guys getting squished either!

When I went with my friend and her 7 year old son she made him wear those Umbro type shorts on the days we went to Epcot and MK, because of the fountains. He also wore a t shirt and Teva sandals. She just made him take off his t-shirt and shoes to play in the water. When he was done he could put his shoes back on, as it didn't matter if they got wet. We walked around about 30 minutes before she let him put his shirt back on, which gave him time to dry and we didn't need a towel. The umbros dry really fast. He never complained about wet underwear! I guess it eventually dried, too!

We always carry a change of clothes for our girls, sometimes 2 changes each. Ain't no way around kids and water, particularly those fountains! Good thing there are benches nearby for parents to sit and relax as the kiddos go about their explorations. I too have resorted to wearing Tevas and quick-dry shorts on those DD evenings when we are there and my daughters ALWAYS say, "Come on Dad, we want you to go with us!."

We are going in September and I know it is still going to be warm enough that the kids will want to play in the fountains. We have 4 (youngest will be one and should be walking a bit by then, as he is taking steps now), and I am trying to figure out how to carry enough stuff for them all without being loaded down.

One suggestion I have heard elsewhere about drying off is to use chamois... it works better than towels and takes up less space in your bags. I think I am going to try it this time!

Our kids loved the fountains, as had been predicted by many. We planned it so that fountain time was right before our midday break - we went back to our hotel for lunch, a change of clothes and a bit of rest. Worked great. Enjoy.
