My grandmother is joining us at the fort this weekend. She's 78 but still in pretty good shape so it shouldn't be hard to get her around. If she get's tired I'll rent a EMV. I think we're going to go to AK and MK and of course be doing the MNSSHP on Sunday night.

I'm more of her 6th child than I am her grandson as she pretty much raised me. She took my youngest aunt and I to WDW several times right after they opened along with many other trips. I remember getting the magnets of the monorail and the Mickey hat with your name embroided on it. Those were the days when you had the passes for each land and you had to buy more if you wanted to ride more things. She hasn't been for many years so I'm sure it's going to look way different to her. There was no Splash and Thunder Mountains and Mr Toads Wild Ride was still there. I'm telling my age now lol.

Although I've been dozens of times since her taking us it's going to be neat for my daughter and my niece is going along too. They're fortunate to get to go with their great grandmom. I doubt too many kids get to say that. She keeps hearing how fun the fort is and finally decided to tag along.

I'll be sure to post a trip report as usual.

Just take it easy on the boat ride back to the Fort.

:rotfl2: funny stuff. Just remember though, the boat ride there is a "free-fire" zone.

Stacktester,

Sounds great. What a wonderful way to share your past with the young ones. I will be interested to hear details of any mobility challenges you see at FW. I have a selfish interest, as I am bringing my in-laws and parents (I know what am I thinking) for Spring Break next year. While we are not staying at FW, we will visit there at least twice.

3 of my guests have mobility issues. I was actually thinking of getting them biker jackets w/some kind of saying on it because we are going to be cruising the parks w/2 strollers and 3 electric carts. I guess "Pink Ladies" & "T-Birds" are taken. Have to think about this. How about "Rollin' wit my Homeys"....

Thats wonderful, enjoy...what a memory for your daughter! :goodvibes

On a serious note, make sure they fully understand how to use the electric carts before turning them loose in a theme park!

Last Saturday a "little old lady" ran into me with her cart at the Mexico pavillion and got so flustered, she kept going forward instead of just stopping - repeatedly banging the back of my heel. Thankfully for me, I was only hit by the tire, and not the metal plate on the front of the cart. I'm still a little bruised!:scared1:

This seems to be a common practice. There was a large crowd of people gathered waiting to meet a character and we were waiting in that line(I think it was at MK)....when out of no where an older gentleman (being kind here) was mad because he couldn't get through the crowd apparently?? He ran the cart wheel right over my dh's foot and kept going (cursing the whole time :rotfl: )! DH had a nasty bruise on his foot which didn't make walking our 12+miles a day very easy!

Yup, noted. I just have this mental image in my mind of 3 ECVs & 2 strollers "cruising" MK Main Street like that scene from the movie "Wild Hogs" (w/hilarity ensuing wherever we go).

This forum is replete with ECV horror stories. sooooo......(deftly changing the subject)......maybe we will just walk slowly from point to point while observing all established & effective rules of confined space movement techniques and etiquette (nice save Mr Man). ;)
