Found out how to get Disney Dollars!

Whats the benefit to getting Disney dollars? Are they more valuable than regular money?

Thanks so much for the information! we are going to tell the relatives (including grandparents) to give them for my DD6 and DS11 for birthday gifts so they will have them for our trip in December :cheer2:

But just like all the other stores, once they run out they will not be getting any more in until May.

They just are special for little kids. They are equal to real money in value but they have Mickey and Goofy on them.

Thank you for posting about Disney Dollars not being in the stores until May. I have been visiting and calling our local store weekly since mid-January and they always tell me - "Try again next week. We should be getting them in soon" The manager has never once mentioned May!!

Thank goodness our trip isn't until June. I have several mall gift certificates that I want to convert to Disney Dollars for our first Disneyland trip.

I took this from this week's Allears Newsletter. I hope that Deb does not mind me quoting it here:
A few months ago, a reader sent in a tip on ordering Disney Dollars through the mail. Ramona writes with an even speedier method: We are going to Disney World this May. I wanted to give our two boys Disney Dollars for their Easter basket. Since we do not have a Disney Store very close by, I wanted to find out if I could order them -- but knowing I was under a time constraint (less than two week s) I was worried they would not arrive in time. I was told that I could order via fax. I faxed in my order first thing Monday morning, and what do you know? The very next morning, there was the Fed Ex guy with my Disney Dollars! The best part was that the shipping was free! You can fax your order complete with the denominations ($1's, $5's, or $10's), name, address, and credit card information, to 1-407-566-5645. Thanks, Disney, for the first class service... AGAIN!

So, it looks as if you can fax an order for Disney Dollars to WDW and have them sent right to you. Pretty cool.

the easter bunny was planning on putting (25) ones in the plastic eggs for DS on Easter morning
guess she'll need to come up with something else to hide - thank goodness she has a few 5s to drop in his basket

but at least the disney dollars should be back in the stores before DSs birthday

Nope, not more valuable. The reason so many people get them is because when you have them in your possession, you can't spend your vacation money BEFORE you go on vacation. It's an insurance policy for your vacation. The way I paid for our first vacation was I paid entire hotel in full months before we arrived. I bought the APs with the income tax return and most of the souvie and food money was in Disney Dollars. Worked perfectly for my saving-challenged husband.

I totally agree with Sleepy.

My DH and I go to Disney every year, but I've never seen the purpose of Disney Dollars before. I always put aside a certain amount of money for every year, so it wasn't an issue.

This year, I decided to turn all that "put aside" money into Disney Dollars so I can't "accidentally" spend any of it during the year and leave myself with a big bill in October. Hotel was paid in cash, but everything else there can be paid for with DD.

This worries me a bit. :sad2: I don't think it's a good idea to fax your credit card number to an unknown fax machine sight unseen. Can anyone verify who exactly this fax number goes to??

I can buy Disney Dollars at Guest Services at DTD. I just bought some for someone the other day. If any of you need them, PM me and I will buy them for you and you can just mail me a check. Just let me know what denominations you need, how many you need of each and when you need them.

Other than the "fax" way, does anyone know how you can do it using a credit card? I agree with Trixiezzz, I'm not real comfortable faxing my card info to an unknown.

You rock for offering :)

More Disney dollar info: If you order them through central reservations, which is where that mysterious allearsnet.com fax number went through, you can do it over the phone instead of via fax at 407-566-4985. (The fax again is 407-566-5645; it's legit.)

But the bad news is this. You can only charge $50 as a max--if it's higher than that, the credit card company considers it a cash advance, so Disney won't process charges for more than $50 of Disney dollars. So, if you try to get around that by giving them multiple credit cards, Disney still processes it as a separate transaction with separate shipping--they say they can't combine the shipping on them.

Call during office hours: Mon-Fri 8:30 - 4:45 Eastern

One more question:

Do they charge for shipping?

:) Thanks for this additional information.

I would like to find a way to turn my Disney Visa Rewards into Disney Dollars without having to cash them in....just go straight to Disney Dollars. Has anyone tried that?

Just called the 407-566-4985 number (Press prompt #2) and talked to 2 different CMs and got the same story:

You CAN buy Disney Dollars over the phone or fax this way....BUT there is a $10.00 shipping charge for each $50 order!!!

Yikes! That's too much for me! :sad2:
