I recently posted a thread requsting info. regarding car seats for children because I had been told that the ones provided by the car rental companies can be a bit tatty and not very clean.

Since then I have found - on another forum - information about a firm who rent out equipment - they are called 'A Baby's Best Friend' and they have quoted me $69.55 for 2 weeks car seat hire. According to their website they clean and sanitise all equipment before renting it out and they have said that they will meet us at the airport to give us the seat and that they will meet us before we go home to pick up the seat. You give them your flight numberstimes etc.

They do all sorts of baby equipment inc. strollers/pushcahirs and cots/cribs.

Has anyone ever used them, they do have very good user reports on their website I e-mailed them at info@abbf.com

Hi, just read your post and i have just come back from florida so thought i would enlighten you with my experience of car seats.

I booked car hire with alamo and when we arrived found that there was a huge pile of car seats all wrapped up in plastic bags and i could take my pick of whichever one i wanted.

I chose one which was spotless, came with full instructions and was in excellent condition.

This was my first trip to florida therefore i do not have any experience of a negative type to report but there did not seem to be a problem at all with alamo.

Hope this is useful.

Thanks for the info Grannyed :thumbsup2

We need to be thinking about what to do for baby equipment for Joseph's first trip in October so this site might prove very useful :)

We used to find the Dollar car seats were also wrapped up in plastic, and generally were clean and suitable for a young child.

Hi, thegirlyarwood, can I just ask a few questions about your car hire experience? We have also booked with Alamo.
Did you book the car seat in advance from the UK? If so, how did you do it - online etc?
How much did you pay for the hire?
Hope you can help. Thanks.

We have been to Orlando for the past three years and each year we have taken our own car seats with us. Why pay for car seats when you can take your own for free?

The first time we needed a car seat, with Dollar, it was very grubby, luckly enough the mini van had a pull down car seat in the back for kids under five.

Last year we had a lovely seat, came with instructions and the dollar guy installed it for us.

Not thought about the car seat needed in 7 weeks

Best start looking
