Found another place to charge phone in MK

A future Disney concession stand? Little individually lockable cages with power receptacles to recharge cell phones, etc. Rent one, take the key, then come back later for your phone. Or have a separate charger and spare battery to leave in the cage while you keep your phone. Maybe different sizes for laptop, iPad, cell phone, Game Boy, etc.

Useful accessory: A 3 prong to 2 prong adapter. Use as a standoff or extension in case the receptacle is recessed in the wall or floor and your charger block (wall wart) won't fit.

You are a genius!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Zehnjaren, could you tell me which charger you use? My stinks! I can easily drain my battery in a morning taking photos. :)

There are outdoor outlets in Norway and morocco. I asked several staff and everyone always said it was fine.

On the issue of battery drainage....

I wonder if as a phone gets older the battery drains quicker?

Also, if the phone is damaged or not working properly (just got rid of my iPhone 4....battery was draining....found out some apps were not really "closing" even after I closed them.....caused my battery to drain like crazy)

Another phone I damaged (I'm BRUTAL on phones) messed up the ability to get a signal, so when I went anywhere where the signal wasn't really strong, my phone would "search" for a signal, draining the battery.

Also, I regularly forget to plug in my phone at night, so it needs charged during the day:thumbsup2

Happy Charging to EVERYONE!!!!!:goodvibes

Supercilious... Kind of like you using the word "presumptuous."

If it's not your business what people do with their phones, then why are you posting here?

How is saying something like this any better? You don't have to agree with her.

I know what you mean about needing to charge your phone. I use only my iPhone for pics and it really drains the battery. Now I carry two battery pack cases so I never have to worry about finding a charging station or an outlet. The case like best is the Mophie (around $70 at Target).:thumbsup2

Love the Mophie. Can't wait until they release a JuicePack Air for the iPhone 5!

I would totally pay $1.00 or so to charge my phone, if they had all the appropriate cables and I didn't have to tote mine into the park.

It's presumptuous to use a business's own electric outlets, in place for its own use, to recharge phones the users choose to allow to run low; especially when foreknowledge (battery life plus non-telephone features) and planning (charging cases, extra batteries, etc.) so easily lets phone owners be in control.

It's not as if the outlets are there for guest usage. Even you refer to them as secret.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Presumptuous? Not at all in this day and age. I see people with gizmos plugged in all over the country.

How long does it take to charge one of these fancy camera/phone/internet devices? Do you have to sit there for an hour or more, using up table space?

As the battery ages, it holds less of a charge. This a big part of why non removable batteries are frowned upon.

We just plug in when we are around an outlet. Not concerned with topping off. So, no, with 3 teenagers, we never take long to eat. I can't speak for anyone else.

It depends on how depleted the device is. I'd say anything that's dead needs at least 10-15 minutes to get some sort of decent charge. If someone is using a table for this purpose and there's nowhere else to sit I'd kindly ask them if I could sit down there. If they say no you can always take it up with a CM.

I go to the parks with a fully charged phone. If however, I forgot to charge it and decided to use an outlet in the park, I would. Honestly, why does anyone give 2 flips what other people do? If it really is a concern, send Disney a check.
OP, thanks for hint about a charging location.

She commented about someone using supercilious words. She doesn't need to pos on this thread If she doesn't agree.

Thanks OP for the tip!

There's no rule that says if you don't agree don't post. No need to be rude.

At the airport on the way home from WDW last week, there were charging stations at the gate, both in Orlando and our connecting city Detroit. I can't wait for more places to put these in- especially WDW. We used our phones to communicate when separated, to take photos, to look up dining menus, to check wait times on the DisneyParks app, etc. it drained our batteries, we we fighting for outlet space in our room every night for all of our devices. It would have been awesome to fill up at a charging station while waiting for a parade or fireworks or anything

Appreciate this :). Thank you.

"Not my business what..." means exactly that. Doesn't matter if someone is using a phone as a football, or a doorstop, or a book, or a toy. Even (as unusual as it sounds) a phone on occasion. But when you know your usage exceeds your battery life, and with the variety of portable power options available to the consumer, I maintain it's presumptuous to expect any business to provide unofficial charging facilities.

I almost always go back to my hotel for a few hours, so of course I plug my phone in there.

Concerning use of phones, as many mentioned, that's up to the individual. For some, it enhances their experience, for others it detracts. Much like commandoing or taking it easy. That said, I would imagine that Disney is happily in favor of people taking pictures in the parks and sharing them via social media. For me, I don't think I'd likely ever plug my phone in inside a park though, unless I was invited to. If I forget to charge it, I go without.

And I'd bet charging stations (paid, which is fair) are only a matter of time. A few years ago, there wasn't wifi. Now there is. Time marches on.

Definitely a need ;)

Who cares what people use their phones for? My iPhone dies quickly. We use it as a camera, my kids use it entertain themselves in lines, but very rarely as a phone as we are from Canada and unless we get wifi, data is way too expensive.

Thank you to all the posters giving us the secret outlet spots.
:thumbsup2 My iPhone gets used for a lot of things-probably for voice calls the least.

I've had pretty good luck with not running out of juice although I do like the Mophie battery cases. Not sure if the one for the iphone 5 is out yet.

This times 1000. If you go into Barnes and Noble, Panera, Starbucks etc, you see people plugged into the outlets all the time, and nothing is said.

I haven't had to use an outlet yet at WDW, but if I had to, I would. People can scowl at me all they like.:rotfl:

I don't think Disney minds so much people using open outlets for phone charging. In one of the big tops in Storybook Circus there will be a "rest area" of sorts that will have outlets for phone and ECV charging.

There are "charging lockers" at Disneyland here in CA...... :-) I'm also told you can leave a phone/camera to be charged (with its cable) at City Hall, but I can't remember now if that's MK or DL.
