Found a Ring at Castaway Cay

My mother found a ring at Castaway Cay last summer and completely forgot about it until she found it in the bottom of her beach bag this year.

The intent was to turn it in to lost and found when we got back on the ship, but my son lost his ship card on the island. Needless to say, we had a bit of a crazy afternoon and no one remember the ring.

Anyone know the best way to handle this?

It is silver ring with a blue stone and has an inscription inside the band. I am sure someone is missing it, but there is no telling how long it sat in the sand. She found it when she was wiggling her feet in the sand to get to some cool sand. It was buried in several inches of sand.

Call DCL lost and found ask if they ever got a lost card for a lost ring with that description. They must have a data base somewhere. If nothing pans out that way then maybe post it on FB without photo, then wait. If nothing else happens then try a photo (without showing inscription - need that to claim the ring) unless the inscription is generic "I love you" or something like that, if that is the case then don't post photo.
If it has a date or name then maybe it will find its way home if you post photo, or call news station they always have stories like that.

I hate loosing jewelry, if I found something like that I would do the same thing - you are awesome to try to find the owner :flower3:

We were at Serenity Bay a couple of years ago when a lady lost her engagement ring in the sand. She had taken it off and tucked it into her swimsuit top to put on suntan lotion and then forgot about it until later and it was gone. :guilty: They really tried hard to find it, everyone in the area was trying to help and DCL crew brought out sand rakes and a metal detector but they never did find it. I hope the one your Mom found makes its way back to its owner - my guess is that there's many instances of lost rings etc on CC.

Contact Disney. If there is an inscription, it could have sentimental value. This is why when we get to CC, my jewelry goes into the safe!

Finders keepers... at least with little stuff like this, coins, sunglasses, etc., the things people routinely loose. I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. Enjoy it. If your conscience bothers you too much, sell it and give the cash to a charity. My personal favorite is the SOGNC Campaign, (*), pronounced sog-nik, that we give a hefty donation to every so often.

I wouldn't call a ring with an inscription "little stuff." Yes, it's little size-wise, but it could be very significant to the owner. I applaud the OP's desire to find its rightful owner.

Probably lots of rings on castaway cay. Because when you cruise you lose weight Only joking someone probably thought I was serious.

Hope the ring makes it back to the owner.

A difference of opinion. As the OP said "but there is no telling how long it sat in the sand" plus it's been a year since found. Any urgency has lapsed. Time to move on and count coup.

But there has been no attempt to find the owner in the last year so of course there hasn't been urgency!

Let us know if you have any luck contacting DCL and finding the owner! In relation to the finders keepers comment, I for one would be sad to think someone just walked off with something of mine but I know what you're trying to say. In this respect though a ring is a lot different to a dummy or a hair band (and even then I hope I would hand it in). Definitely worth trying to find the owner especially as you know where it was found and the cruise you were on. If it meant anything to the person they would have reported it so you should be able to find out pretty easily if there's a card on it already with DCL. Good luck

I'm still hoping for my daughters 2010 earings from our thanksgivings cruise. They were her first pair of earrings, they were rose gold studs with pink mother of pearl hearts from Kabana. They were $250 that my husband got down to $200. We can't let her wear anything but gold because of allergic reactions. She even planned on wearing them to prom next year(even though my husband left them in the safe back in 2010) I still hope to find them. Maybe I can find them on eBay and buy them sometime.
Glad there is a chance they will get them.

This is why I would always attempt to return such things. It may mean much more to someone else than to the person who finds it.
