I think it's a golden-doodle. My dh found it taking the kids to school this morning on our street. We don't have any other neighbors on our street. No tags, no collar, matted dirty hair, thirsty. Very friendly and playful, so she seems young. She's big though. Anyone know anything about these dogs? Do they need haircuts? I think she needs a haircut! DH is at the vet with her now, checking for a microchip and getting her cleaned up and checked out. I've checked out craigslist, called around to vet's offices, humane societies, even groomers to see if anyone has lost a golden doodle. No luck yet. In the meantime, my dh seems to be in love with it!

My neighbor has a golden doodle....awesome dog! I hope you find the owners, but if you don't - they're a great dog!!!

If you can't find the owners I hope you keep the dog!! Golden doodles are so sweet!!

I guess since you've tried to find the owner already, it's time to do it the old-fashion way-- Found Dog Signs!

Not sure about by you, but here.. You can place a classified ad in the local Newspapers for free for anything Found.. Providing your DH would give him back :rolleyes1

Wow you are very lucky, we priced goldendoodles in our area because we really love them and couldn't find anything for under 800.00. Keep checking for his family, he bound to have one, they are high dollar dogs.

They do need to be groomed. And they are generally very sweet natured dogs, good with kids and other animals...and their hair is little to no shed.

Good luck I hope you keep him if you can't find the family, but do for the sake for his first family keep looking for a while, I for one would be heart broken to lose a pet.

Goldendoodles are great dogs. We have a 2 year old female. She is the best dog. She is great with the kids and she doesn't shed. We love her so much we are getting another one on Saturday.

They must be groomed. It sounds like the previous owner did not take care of her if she is really matted up. We take ours in every 3 months to get groomed. We shave her down in the summer because she gets so hot with all of her fur.

If you end up keeping her and have any questions about Goldendoodles you can PM me.

My friend's goldendoodle is the most high strung, exasperating dog on the face of the planet. She is incredibly high maintenance. The have to bathe her at least once a day, some days they have to wash her legs several times. The mud clings to her and her paws suck up everything like giant mops. She is a sweet dog, but I think she got more poodle than golden. She can be very standoffish and aloof. They do have to take her to the groomers regularly, but she doesn't really shed, which is a plus. You have to brush her regularly to keep the hair from matting. Oh, and she can jump like nobody's business, so you might want to make sure you've got good fencing. My friends had to raise their fence a foot and a half to keep her in their yard. I call her muppet because that's what she looks like, a muppet sheep. She also smells like a wet sheep when she gets wet, not an attractive odor. If I had my choice, not a dog I'd choose. :confused3

Much to my dh's disappointment, she had a microchip and the vet looked up the number and the vet knew the owner. Dh spent some time with the dog and learned she was very well behaved and knew all the commands he gave her sit, stay, down, etc. She was not well taken care of, her hair matted and dirty, no collar at all. He was pretty upset at the owner and actually the vet because he downplayed her care, or lack of (my dh's words). He said he felt like maybe the vet made it up so he could sell her for a profit. Man, he gets attached quick! ;) I stopped and got dh his favorite Ben & Jerry's, so he'll be ok!

Hmm.. sounds like maybe you shouldn't have tried so hard to find the owner.. :sad2:

Hope DH recovers soon! So sorry you didn't get to keep the doggy!

Well, I didn't mention it was 0 degrees last night, our high today was 11 degrees. Dh and I don't believe in leaving family pets outdoors all night, let alone when it's that cold!

You guys did a nice thing for the doggy. :) Hopefully his owners will take better care of him. Wonder how long he was missing?

Sounds like your friends could use some classes on how to care for a pet. Some obedience classes and keeping the dog's hair cut short would certainly take care of everything you've mentioned. :confused3

Is there any way you can ask the owner if they would like to give you the pet...this happened to a freind of mine with a lab and the owner admited that they were overwelmed with the dog and gave up ownership of the dog to my friend.

I also get attached easily to animal too, my neighbor has a cat that keeps coming over and "visiting" and now I have cat toys and food for him.......that's a secret..hehe

Funny you should say this, the vet did give my dh the owner's name and town (he's in the town next to ours). Maybe, I'll look him up tomorrow! Well, acutually, yellowbook.com.............

Didnt you want another dog???? :rotfl2:

If you dont find the owner, you can always save it for me and when we see you this summer we will take her home :) :thumbsup2 lol

Ive wanted a goldendoodle since that one we saw years ago out in Eagle.

Well, there were 26 "John Smiths" (obviously not his real name) and none in that town. My dh is googling him now that he knows what I'm doing! I think I will call the vet's office in the morning and ask if they got the dog to the owner ok. My dh is totally convinced that someone there, the vet even, saw an expensive and well behaved dog and thought they could make a profit. I think he's being a little paranoid! Maybe it's time to get out the Ben & Jerry's!;)

What wonderful pet owner (family) you are! I would check with the owner too....that's how we got our boxer/lab 9 1/2 yrs ago. She was tied up (starving:sad1: ) behind a bar. I "dognapped" her and then called the owner to see if it would be ok for us to keep her:goodvibes They agreed, and she now lives the good life;) Not the "best" way to acquire a dog I know....but she needed us:love: (My DH...is a sucker for the dogs too:lmao: )
