Could someone please tell me how the fast pass system at IOA and US works? How is it different from Disney?

Let me first clarify that I've actually never been to IOA or US but we are visiting this summer. However from what I've read here on the boards here is the difference: FOTL is used to go through the express line. If you stay at an on-site hotel (HRH or PBH) you use your room key for entrance into the express line and you go ahead of all the other folks standing in the normal line.

At Disney I know we had to get a ticket and come back to the ride during a certain time span. FOTL is all day - just go to the ride you want to experience.

There are more people out there on the boards that can help out with the explanation as well.....Good Luck!

The express pass system is similar, but better than fast pass. YOu go to a machine and use your park enty ticket to obtain an express pass for a time later in the day. You have a choice of two times. If you have a one day park pass, you can only get one express pass at a time. If you have a multi-day pass, you can get three express passes at a time. You can only get one fast pass at a time at WDW. If you are staying at the HRH or the PBH you just show your room key and go right to the express entrance.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't all types of passes, one day or multi day now only get one express pass at a time?

Yes, that's correct, everyone only gets one pass at a time now.

You put your ticket in a big machine. Then you choose your time and a ticket pops out.

The machines are near the rides. They will be marked Express pass distribution center for the particular ride.

The machines are located near the ride. Several rides can be grouped together in one Universal Express booth area. Look for the big signs that say Universal Express. You can't miss them.
