I've been looking at the Universal Studios web site and seeing how much it would cost for 4 of us (2 kids and 2 adults) to stay on site for 6 nights and visit the parks for 5 days. If I book it as a package thru the Universal Web site we get 4 park flex passes at $187.50 each but right now Universal has a pay for two days and get 5 days as an online offer for $94.50 each. With the 4 park flex passes we get IOA, US, Wet and Wild, and Sea World but with the pay for two days we only get IOA and US which is ok with us. I may be missing something here but doesn't it make more sense to get the pay for two days and get 5 days tickets?

Also if I book only the hotel thru the web site, it costs less per day than if I book it thru the package deals. That doesn't make sense to me either.

Also to get the FOTL benefit we have to stay on site and it doesn't matter which ticketswe use for the parks right?

I'm sorry for rambling but this is confusing me.

Thanks so much for the help and insight.

That is right.

Yes, get the five day bonus passes.
Call 1-800-BE A Star and see if the entertainment rate is available for the dates you want to go. If so, you can go to www.entertainment.com and buy a book or get one through a local school or charity fundraiser. If you're planning on going after Nov.1,2003, you'll need the 2004 entertainment book. Also ask if they have any Fan Club rates. There are people on these boards who are kind enough to get others Fan Club Cards. Try for those discounts. If you are a member of AAA, ask if they have any AAA discounts available. The on site hotels are GREAT.

I have found that it is cheaper to book your own hotels, tickets etc., seperately. A few times the vacation services will have perks that you cannot get by booking yourself, but they are not so great as to spend the extra cash.
I usually get a price quote from vacation services, then call & see what kind of pricing I can get using discounts that are available (fan club card, entertainment rate, Florida resident etc.) I have *always* been able to save money by booking the trip myself.
(plus, for me planning is 1/2 the fun :Pinkbounc )
So yes, spend a little extra time & book it yourself - you will save money.
Hope that helps! :jester:

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback. I just got so confused with all the different rates and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

I actually have the Entertainment Book for the Denver/Boulder area so will call today regarding room rates.

Again, thanks!!
