Last time we were on the magic, we were aft, but this time we're forward. We're in room 6319--does anyone have any feedback about the forward staterooms--are there any real differences?

Thanks!

The differences? You'll be closer to the spa, adult pool, theatre, shopping, and the night clubs. You'll have to walk a little further than before to get to the kids' pool, Topsiders', and the restaurants. Your room will be configured the same as an Aft room. You won't notice any noticeable difference in motion. Enjoy!

BTW, congratulations in advance on becoming a DIS Veteran! (One more post and you've made it!)

Dave--thank you! And thank you for all of your helpful info! It is greatly appreciated! we only have 36 days before we leave for our vacation!!!

Wahooo!

How about 6104? Never sailed before, so where on the ship
do you want to be so that you do not feel the motion as much?

Sorry, another question-when you are looking at the deck plans some staterooms have little triangles facing different directions-are these connecting rooms? What do the triangles mean?

You guessed correctly. Rooms with triangles pointing at each other have a connecting door between them.

6104 is just forward of the aft elevators. Looks like a good location to me. I like to be near the aft elevators for easy access to the aft restaurants, the coffee station on deck 9, and the balcony on deck 7 aft.

As far as where not to feel the ship's motion, conventional wisdom is lower and midship will have the least amount of motion. I personally do not notice the ship's motion more (or less) fore to aft, but do notice it more the higher up I get. Overall, I'd say the ship, like most cruise ships, is very stable and I don't notice the motion much at all after the first night. Unless you're unusually prone to motion sickness, I would say that your location will be fine.

I just returned from the 3 day Wonder and we were in 8504, very forward. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't feel the motion because you certainly can. This was my first cruise so I don't have anything to compare it to as far as being in an aft location of the ship but let me tell you, we were rocking and a rolling. I didn't notice it as much on the second day of the cruise but on the first and third days I had to take Bonine. I wasn't sick to my stomach, I just had a bad headache. On our third and final day our cabin was creaking away. I still had a good time but I think next time I'll try the mid or aft location. ::yes::

ElaineMc, I don't tell anyone they won't feel the motion... simply that there is no noticeable difference in the motion between Forward and Aft.

The biggest difference IMHO is the motion I was told that the middle is better for less motion.

But overall I think everything is so close anyway its not like catching a bus to epcot or anything..

hope that helps

Dave

Another consideration is that on the first and last night of the cruise, you travel through the Gulf Stream, which is usually fairly rough. It's often the most choppy part of the trip, in my experience.

ElaineMc - on our first cruise we (DM, DS and I) were mid-ship deck 8. On our second, we were very far forward deck 8. I didn't experience any difference. However, DM and DS felt a lot of the ship's movement when in the forward stateroom. We rebooked for next year mid-ship again...

Look like midship it is! I will have to take something anyway since I can't even ride as a passenger in a car without feeling ill.

EXACTLY the reason we like Forward best! :)

On our last cruise we were in 6108. It was great. We stayed mid ship before. We didn't notice any difference in movementand it was a great location.

Thanks for the help!! What are the rooms like (6104, 6108 etc.)

I totally agree with you. We sailed aft on the Wonder in June 2001 and there was no motion. We sailed forward on the same deck this past October 12th. My daughter and I had to take meds on the first night. We could also feel the motion on the fourth (last) night.

Are you usually prone to motion sickness? Will someone (like me) need to take meds anyway?
