How far is The wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness? Is it walkable?

Depending on where in FW you are staying it may be too far to walk the whole way. There is a walkway from the Settlement area to WL, it takes about 20 min.

Bill K,

It is very walkable. According to the GPS map from my running club, the trail is 0.82 miles between the Fort Wilderness/Pioneer Hall area and where the trail meets the road approaching the Wilderness Lodge Parking lot. So doorway-to-doorway it is slightly less than a mile. It runs parallel to the bus road between the two.

It is shaded all the way. No water fountains but a nice wide (flat) paved sidewalk suitable for bikes, jogging, strollers, etc. Use busses in FW to save your legs and take it down to the Pioneer Hall. We usually ride bikes to WL and nose around (we love the lobby).

If you are in the FW cabins you can follow the road past the 2000 loop and the group camping area (Creekside Meadow) down to the "T" with the bus road that runs between FW and WL. This road from the cabins has no shade/full sun but when you intersect the trail/WL-FW road that part is shaded. When you come to the T the WL is about 0.5M to the left and FW is about 0.3M to the right.

Good luck! :yay:
