Fort Wilderness Masks

Does anyone know how the mask policy in Fort Wilderness Campgrounds is enforced. Can you sit in a chair outside your tent without a mask? Can you ride a golf cart or bicycle without a mask? How is this enforced? I don’t want anyone screaming at my six year old if her nose sticks out. This isn’t a complaint, but I’m just debating wether or not it’s worth going in December. Thanks!

We wore our masks when we were in common areas - restaurant, horse barn, stores, gem mining. We had them with us in our golf carts in case we came around any more people, but did not wear them when we were alone. People weren't wearing them sitting outside their campsites. People on bikes had masks with them - looked to be doing the same - had them on when they were in common areas and some had them off when alone.

As soon as you step off your campsite the mask needs to be worn and worn properly. They have had CM’s at some of the camping loop intersections reminding people to put their masks on while walking, traveling in golf carts, bike riding etc. The mask can be removed once on your chair at the pool, and when walking to enter and exit the swimming pool.
Additionally, those persons staying in the Fort Wilderness Cabins are also required to wear their masks immediately upon exiting the cabin, including sitting on their own porch. I am heading to the Fort in a couple of weeks and am reading every post I can find regarding anything to do with the Fort, LOL!!!

No one is going to scream at your child, but a CM might politely correct your child if the mask isn't covering her nose when she's off of your campsite. They are required when you're out & about around the Fort, except at the pool, when seated to eat or drink, or while riding a horse during a trail ride.

We are here right now and I posted a little mini trip report in the.Camping Forum. This is what we have noticed:

First observation while cruising around is about 90% of people are wearing masks but maybe 20% of them are wearing them correctly. They are pulled down under their noses, pulled down under their chins and I thought they were not approved but lots of people wearing gaiters. I have only seen one cast member ask someone to put on a mask and that was a really young boy on a golf cart and the cast memeber who was driving in the opposite direction pointed to her face and yelled "you have to have a mask on". I have seen people with no masks walking dogs, riding bikes and in their golf carts. I have even seen a bus driver stopped at a stop sign with his mask under his nose. The pool however is a different story as I am guessing the lifeguards are a little more authoritative. Plenty of social distancing and people correctly wearing their masks and getting called out to social distance when not in the pool. Now I will say, the people not wearing their masks correctly are social distancing so I really dont have an issue with it. Any trip in to the Meadows or Settlement trading posts where social distancing is harder, people are 100% wearing masks and wearing them correctly.

We were there last week. You are supposed to be wearing them on the golf cart for sure.

We wore them on the carts and I would say 95% of others did as well. We also were told we had to wear them on our early morning run/walk around the campground. We saw a few people who had theirs off, then would mask if we/someone passed them on their run.

But yes, as a rule, outside of your campsite or in a chair at the pool or in the pool, you are supposed to be masked there and they tell you that.

That's going to be a tough one for me. I typically take my morning coffee out to the picnic table on my porch in order to wake up properly. Guess I don't understand why people in RVs can be right outside their 'home' and not have to wear a mask but people in cabins can't? It's the same distance (or more).

If you are actively drinking and stationary, on your cabin porch, I think you can not wear a mask. I would bring it out there in case. You could not wear a mask at the parks if you were actively drinking too.

You don’t have to wear a mask sitting on your porch, that’s ridiculous. Masks are worn when you can’t distance 6 feet

Exactly, thats why the Disney rule that a mask has to be worn on the porch of the cabins doesn’t make any sense. Are the resorts with balconies implementing a mask required while on the balcony? That would make a little (teeny tiny bit) more sense than the cabins

I'm reporting what multiple disboard posters have claimed on these boards. Disboarders reporting that CM have told them to put their mask on while on the porch . Since it was posted several times I assumed it was factual.

Edited to add: I'm searching for the posts about this now, I'm hoping to find them although I've been faithfully reading every post since June.

What is gem mining? Sounds fun.

Its been a couple years since I stayed in a cabin but I thought the smokers were permitted to smoke on those decks, they cant wear masks and smoke.
