Fort Wilderness Masks

We were there last week. You are supposed to be wearing them on the golf cart for sure.

We wore them on the carts and I would say 95% of others did as well. We also were told we had to wear them on our early morning run/walk around the campground. We saw a few people who had theirs off, then would mask if we/someone passed them on their run.

But yes, as a rule, outside of your campsite or in a chair at the pool or in the pool, you are supposed to be masked there and they tell you that.

Here in a cabin since Saturday and this is exactly what I have seen. Meanwhile the grounds are beautiful, people happy, animals out and some great scenes between the storms.

Agreed! We had a wonderful time, with amazing peaceful scenery even with the mask requirement!! Glad you had a great trip!

and here is the poster quoting the info the received at the desk....

We stayed at the Fort from July 20-31. We specifically asked front desk what is the mask rule, she said you are required to wear a face covering as soon as you step over the RV pad/street line, even to throw away garbage. It didn't bother us so we followed that rule, even when we walked the dog on the pet trail. We did see a few people not following the rules but I'm sure they didn't ask so really didn't know what to do (it wasn't our job to let them know). We did see most CM enforce it as well as some just turning away. The first week we were there we did see more people following the rules, the second week and especially during the weekend we had seen more people riding the carts, fishing and walking around the loops without masks or wearing them as chin straps. We did have a great time, we felt pretty safe over all and can't wait to get back. If someone without a mask or below the nose came along, we would just move away from them. As far as neck gaiters, I love them. I use them during my fishing trips so I'm use to it. I did know they were not allowed in the park so I never took mine, but was told by the CM at P&J's they are also not allowed on the resorts. I am guilty of using it when I walked the dog or crossed the street to throw out garbage, but I made sure it wasn't while others were around. Over all, like I said, we felt safe, went to parks almost every day. Only once did I have to tell a family while in line to please give us space while my son tied his shoe and the line moved (they were breathing down our neck to move). They apologized and kept their distance after that. I did take a umbrella to the parks and would hold it under my arm when people came too close while in line, it help keep them away 😉. A good 95% of the people did follow the rules and if we encountered ones that didn't, we would just move away. Can't wait to get back next month!

Its been a couple years since I stayed in a cabin but I thought the smokers were permitted to smoke on those decks, they cant wear masks and smoke.
I do that, too! I just didn't want to bring it up and potentially change the direction of the conversation. ;)

So does anyone know how this applies to the comfort stations? Wear them in to the comfort station but take them off to shower/get ready? We're tent camping in a couple weeks, so we're trying to figure out the mask rules for us! Thanks!

Ran a 10k around the FW grounds this morning and wore a mask the entire time. If you take it off and run into a cast member, they will remind you to put it on. This is the world we will live in right now and I’m happy to comply to be able to enjoy Disney. I found compliance to be very, very good with most all people correctly wearing masks.

As soon as you step off your campsite the mask needs to be worn and worn properly. They have had CM’s at some of the camping loop intersections reminding people to put their masks on while walking, traveling in golf carts, bike riding etc. The mask can be removed once on your chair at the pool, and when walking to enter and exit the swimming pool.
Additionally, those persons staying in the Fort Wilderness Cabins are also required to wear their masks immediately upon exiting the cabin, including sitting on their own porch. I am heading to the Fort in a couple of weeks and am reading every post I can find regarding anything to do with the Fort, LOL!!!
Not sure this is accurate, my understanding is that masks are NOT required when "on your site". Cabins (including the porch) is considered "your site". Once off your site, masks are required at all times, except within the gates of the pool areas. I'll be there Saturday (in a cabin), so I'll double confirm and report back.

Just wondering what you found out about masks when staying at the cabins. Heading there Sunday.

I just got back from Fort Wilderness yesterday after being there for a week.

Masks are required whenever you are off your campsite/cabin per Disney policy.

I wore mine only when in the Meadow Trading Post, P&J's Southern Takeout (only when ordering), the TriCircleD Ranch, and the FW Checkin building. In other words, when I was inside a Disney building.

I took it off when I was walking or biking on the trails around the Fort or around my loop (including the Comfort Station). I was passed by many CM's driving their work buggies and vehicles who did not say peep. Of course in those instances I was not near another soul and passed folks with a wide berth when I was. On the busy weekend afternoons there was a CM at the big 4-way intersection just past the hitch/unhitch area and one down by the big 3-way intersection near the Settlement bus depot enforcing mask compliance (I did carry mine when walking/biking). But the rest of the time it was not an issue.

I did mask up when riding Disney busses.

Outside of Disney buildings/busses, I would estimate PROPER effective mask compliance at 50-60% around the Fort. I saw LOTS of noses or down around the necks wearing or loose/not snug fit.

As noted above, not required inside the pool fences.

So not required in your campsite, in your cabin, or on your cabin deck and driveways. And at P&J's they left some Trails End tables safely distanced apart to eat at (can be off while eating). At several Disney restaurants I took the mask off immediately after being seated and re-masked when leaving the building after eating and nobody said peep. No guest I encountered ever within any proximity said anything to me during the week.

That was my recent experience. Your mileage may vary.

PS - only did one park day in Magic Kingdom and took mask off during rides when I could after leaving the loading area (PoC, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Small World, Country Bears, Buzz Lightyear, Carousel of Progress, Pooh) and would re-mask when approaching the unload zone. Kept it on during Jungle Cruise since we were with a CM.

Why would you do that to everyone else? Come on.
