Fort Wilderness Manager Did A Bad Thing (Golf Carts)

I AGREE with every word ! Preach on brother ! (or sister!)
And I wouldn't apologize to anyone who uses that service at the Fort, no matter what they were driving or pulling. After all it is YOUR hard earned spent money and time they are ruining, all because they are selfish half wits who don't care about you as long as they get what they want. And yes I blame Disney as equal.

Thanks born 2 fish. Last time I posted something about the detailers here I got bashed pretty good. It's not right. You might as well have pizza delivery guys, ice cream trucks, auto repair and the whole nine yards come to the fort. We go to the fort for the relaxation not the vendor BS

We took the GEM to the Fort 3 times before I sold it. The first time we brought it down (around 4th of July) we got a load of crap about not being able to take my disabled MIL to the campfire show and movie (again this was before the new pool modifications). She liked to sit "drive in" style rather than try and negotiate the gravel. As we were leaving a CM came up to us and handed us a yellow flyer with the RULES about NEVs on it and were told we could not do that. I appealed this directly to Brian who was the GM of the WL and Fort at the time and he came to our site and looked over the GEM and gave his OK to go where ever carts went. So the rest of the stay was OK. Then we came back in December and wanted to do the same thing. Again at the movie we got turned away by a CM who did not want to listen to anything I said about Brian and our previous stay. My MIL was upset and just wanted to go and not be hassled so we left. When we took her to HDDR a couple of days later, we parked at PH. When we came out we had another of those yellow flyers with the RULES on it like a parking ticket or something. The next visit I contacted Jean Gallagher who up until recently was the GM. She said it was OK to go to PH and the Marina but we had to go via loop 100 and not the sidewalk. She also said not to go to the movie with it. So we at least had that tiny accomodation. What made no sense to me is the GEM is a much safer vehicle with better brakes, lights wipers, brake lights, turn signals, etc. PLUS mine was licensed, insured and safety inspected by DMV authorized repair shops. I dare say the GCs are not nearly that safe.

Wow!! Until they closed the access to the movies just recently, we would go to the movies and park the GEM drive-in style to watch the movies. No one ever approached us or anything. I don't like to drive the GEM on the cart path from the main road to PH, so we usually go thru the 100 loop. That being said....I'm not a fan of our GEM - it's my DH's toy & I would rather have my old Club Car back. I personally think you made a good move getting rid of yours. The GEM is okay for our neighborhood - but not so much FtW. And yeah....Jean Gallagher is no longer at the Fort. I don't know where she was moved to though.

We total Disney carts about every week So Disney keeps given us a cart whole time we are there. We get a new cart every week.

I hope you're joking - but if not --- why would you want to do that? What possible pleasure can you derive from purposely destroying a golf cart? Don't you realize it's that kind of juvenile idiocity that drives up the prices on the GC's? Do you think Disney just "absorbs" the cost? Think again!!!

I’m sorry total Disney carts was a joke!!!!! Disney hates me but they like my money. I spend for months at a time and they hate my attorneys.

I liked the GEM well enough except it was just so darn hard to steer!! That made it hard to maneuver in tight spaces. :scared1:

We did drive it here in NY around the neighborhood (to the store, post office, etc) but NYers are always in a hurry and love to tailgate. It got looks from people though and everytime we took it shopping someone would always ask about it.

We were going to buy a 2006 and the salesman told us to wait until 2007 when they came out with power assisted steering. It's a lot better than what you had in '04 - but it's still difficult to cut the wheels when you're barely rolling. We can't use ours outside of the neighborhood because our main road is a 60mph highway. YIKES!!!

After Obama gets his heisman and peace prize, he promises to mediate the cart dispute among you people.

I just got off the phone with Mike trying to make my reservations - I had NO IDEA all this was going on! Ugh!!! He says that they are trying to work something out. Anything new from anyone at the fort right now???

So there is no golf cart parking at the campfire movie anymore? We used to love parking at the "drive in" with our cart. I remember one evening it was raining and we sat under the cover of the cart while our 3 year old played in the rain and watched the movie. Good times!
