Fort Wilderness LIVE-Trip report

Looking good!

What loop are you in? How are the older kids holding up?

I am enjoying the pictures and stories too and its only been 1 month since we returned home.

Beverly...

Brandy is better... :thumbsup2

So which loop and site did you guys manage to land on anyway?

We rode the PM back to back several times last trip. We just gave the Cast Members on the loading deck the "go around" (finger swirling around in the air). If there wasn't a big queue they were happy to oblige.

Great start, mightyX! :cool1:

Bama Ed

I still hope to try spinning the finger and going around again, we did go up yesterday and take another spin around. Here is my son enjoying the ride.

Glad you are having a great time. I just got back from a long weekend of camping in my 2nd or 3rd favorite spot (the race track) for a Vintage racing event. It's not Disney or FW, but its still a chance for me to unwind a bit.

Any chance to get away is great, the fort is our favorite as well but we have a couple close (and by close I mean far distant) seconds.

That is my wife's name and I teased her when we tried it. It is the nastiest thing I ever drank.

Absolutely the most disgusting drink I have ever had. We had fun at the coke museum just standing around near that fountain to watch people's faces!:rotfl:

Actually I don't mind the beverly so much but I would agree with "brandy is better", if I am going to drink something that bitter I would prefer it with a little kick.

Glad you are enjoying the posts, we ended up in 100 loop which I was excited to be in but the site we are in isn't as private as we would like it is pretty wide open to the neighboring site. There are probably some better on the outer loop.
Can't beat it for convenience though, we are steps from the trading post and the kids can be back and forth to pioneer hall in minutes, which helps make those mugs worth the cost.

Around the world in 180 drinks.

UK, Guinness, then mexico

The following morning may have been a bit slow.

We also spent some time yesterday at Hollywood Studios (before we went around the world) , We walked on to the Great Movie ride and then the back lot tour. After that the park started filling up pretty good so we took the boat to Epcot where the previous post comes into play.

While we were working our way around world showcase yesterday my wife and daughter stopped to Pick a Pearl in Japan. It was quite fun and the lady who opened the oysters was very animated. It is probably worth stopping in to just watch someone else do it.

The girls got their dresses for Christmas, buying the dresses ahead of time saved some money but also I think we got a higher quality dress for the money.

They really enjoyed the whole experience although the hairdo's did get a little tight after a few hours. Our 4 year old was prepared to suck up the pain for the joy of being a princess but we did try to loosen up our older daughters a bit as it was causing a bit of a headache.

looks as though you guys are having a great time - wish we were there - our next trip is in April of 2015. The picture of entering WDW really made me home sick for THE FORT:wave2:

Joining in! Thanks for doing a live report! Looks like a good start to an awesome vacation.

While the girls were getting their hair done, the boys went for a makeover of their own. It has become something of a tradition for the boys to get their haircut at the barbershop at magic kingdom. Years ago it seemed like no one knew that little shop was there, now it is becoming more and more popular still, they are able to walk in and get a haircut in 20 minutes or so, so that is not to bad. Usually at home the boys are at the mercy of me for their haircuts.

Looking good so far, really enjoying your report and thanks for taking the time.

I would swear that the fairy godmother in training working on your youngest looks just like the one who did my daughter's fix-up back in 2009. Didn't happen to catch a name by chance did you?

No I can't remember what her name was. I do know she was originally from Michigan and was one of 9 kids. 5 girls and 4 boys. If that helps. :-)

Not her then, this one was Rosalyn I believe. Looks just like her though.

The morning after the ball.

The bibbidy bobbidy boutique princess hairdos are great, but not so much the morning after. It took some serious washing and combing to get their hair right again.

We took yesterday off to just hang around the Fort, and went to downtown Disney for a bit. The day off was nice and it was so nice to slow down for a day. I could spend many more days just hanging around the fort, it is so relaxing.
We took a bike ride and swam for a bit. Shopped in the gift shops, it was a fun day.

We went downtown at lunch because we have been craving Earl of Sandwich for the last year and a half or so. We were a little nervous about some of the changes there we have heard about. Overall, the sandwiches were still terrific, I didn't notice that there were noticeably smaller than they were before. The price was OK. Where we were pretty disappointed was in their salads, my wife ordered and Earl's Cobb and might as well have picked up a week old pre-made salad at the grocery store. They used to mix all the ingredients when your ordered, toss them in a big bowl and give you a nice size salad that would leave you full. Now they hand you a prepackaged salad that you could buy at any gas station. There is no love in it anymore. It was a disappointment to say the least. Sadly while Earls sandwiches are still OK, it is no longer a must stop for us, there are to many other good places to try.

Remember all the bikes I brought? and how I took one a part and stowed it underneath.
It turns out that when you put it back together you have to really double check the gear cable guides or they come off causing your daughter to wipe out.
The bike is back and working order and my daughters knees are healing.

Bummer on the bike :( but their faces the morning after the boutique are priceless!!

Better to skin your knee at Disney than home I guess.
