Im looking for info from people who have done this? Did you enjoy it? Where did they take you (I know they say through the back woods of FW but more specifics?) Did you go by the lake at all? Are the tour guides friendly and talkative? Did you go out alone, IE just your party or did other join you?

Thanks in advance!

I did it earlier this year. Here is a link to the report: http://bit.ly/4iK4W

Normally you go out in a big group, but I lucked out to only have one other person. It's just walking, but the wooded area is nice. Go on the first ride of the day to see the most wildlife. The guides were chatty, but that could be because we bonded since I am a horse owner too so we had lots to talk about.

My daughter and I did it on our last trip while the guys did the Segway tour. She was one month to young for Segways.. Truthfully, it was a bit of a snooze. We are both riders, and would have loved to pick up the pace a bit. I asked my horse to trot once to catch up with my daughter, and I was told not to do that again. The trails were nothing special. We were with one guide, and 4 other people we did not know. I won't say it was awful, but I wouldn't do it again. I think someone who is not an experienced rider may enjoy it, though.

I did that a few years ago. We had to stay in a single file line and we only walked. I was bored out of my mind. But someone who hasn't really ridden before would probably enjoy it.

I wish they had a horse rental, also. I've had horses most of my life, and that would be fun for me, but this would be too boring for me....:goodvibes
I'm sure lots of people would love this.
I hope to take DGD on the pony ride this trip.

The horse riding is relaxing, one line trail ride. It's a welcome change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the Theme Parks. If you do it, I agree that you take the earliest tour - more because of the pleasant weather.

Now I highly recommend the Hay Ride at the FWC, and it is much cheaper than the horse ride.

I've moved this thread to the Camping at Disney World board. This is the best place to get information on all of the activities that take place at Fort Wilderness. :)

I am by no means an experienced rider, but for the price, I found it kind of boring. Just a single file walk through a trail. You did get to see where they now park the golf carts when not rented out, but that's about it.

My wife had wanted to do this for several years so I made it one of her and my son's Christmas presents during our visit in December 2008. :santa: They loved it!!!

It was my son's (age 19) first time and my wife hadn't been on a horse since she had a pony during her teen years. My son rode a horse that pulled Cindy's carriage in MK. She was quite naughty. She would playfully bite the rump of my wife's horse several times along the trail as if to say move faster. :rotfl:
