Fort Wilderness DVC??? Partial plans found

DVC is expanding way too fast for my taste. At the rate this is going, one day everything will be part of DVC in the Disney World.

Yes, we are BORG (I mean DVC)!:lmao:

Yep but that is due to DVC is the cash cow for Disney right now, so yes expect to see it everywhere.

So have any of you guys heard anything?? Sammie? Nuts?

The plans show about 44 two bedrooms to the northeast of the common rooms. I'm assuming that is representing about half of the resort rooms. So, perhaps 88 on the first floor. Four floors = 352 two bedroom equivalents How does that compare size wise to other resorts?

DVC is only 10-15% of all WDW rooms now so they have a long way to go before absorbing the entire World. ;)

New resort construction takes 2.5 - 3 years to complete and they haven't even broken ground at this site yet. This is a project earmarked for 2013/2014 at the earliest.

BLT points should be gone within a year. That leaves 2 years to sell the remainder of SSR and AKV before this resort would even open. The location is a bit of a surprise but the timing is right on course.

If there is still strong demand for the product, of course Disney is going to continue to supply. Any business would do the same. In the meantime, they can also manage demand by increasing prices.

Well, go back on the boards a couple years ago when there was discussion of building an EPCOT monorail resort. The plans called for a waterway to be built to the resort (from about where River Country sits). Disney never throws away plans...they modify. I am hearing this is not a sure thing, nor finalized...but....

When rumors of a New DVC started popping up in that area I was immediately thinking of those rumors from a couple years ago. do you think this would tie into those plans in any way? It seems like different locations for the resort.

I looked at the buildable area and depending on number of floors 3 or 4 there easily could be 400 to 600 2br equivelents, that would make if one of the larger DVCs.

One of the regulars over on WDW Magic who claims to know a lot of insider stuff basically confirmed the new DVC on their thread.

I hope someone saved the plans.. they link is broken now. Or is it just me? is anyone else able to access them?:confused3

Based on what I am hearing...yes,sort of. We may still see the Epcot monorail version with the waterway. But to do so means they have to move the waterway towards Wilderness lodge. I believe the current thinking is to build DVCs near, if not on, existing resources (power, water, sewer, etc).

All I heard was nothing, which means usually means something is going to happen. :rotfl:

My friends work in DVC management and expansion and when they stop talking and clam up I know I have gotten to close to the truth and since they are people who value their jobs they would never reveal anything that would jeopardize it.

So I would say yes something is in the works for DVC in that area.

Also I was over at the Grand Floridian last week and in talking to a friend there he changed the subject repeatedly when I asked about DVC expansion there.

So I agree with Nuts I think DVC at WDW will continue at exisiting resorts where the infrastructure will allow easy add ons. Would not surprise me at all to see one or two of the buildings at the Polynesian converted.

I can definitely see a Ft. Wilderness DVC (which I hadn't thought of before this rumor/leak) as well as a Poly and GF DVC. It looks like they are moving on FW DVC with the moving of the Barn.

One thing that I could see happening is creating a 'resort wall' around any resort amenities that they create, such as a pool. The resort jutting into the water allowing the water to act as a barrier. That really just bothers me if they do design it this way. :confused3

With BLT having a lot of points left to sell I am reasonably sure that Disney did not want to disclose this early, even with the "find" and discussion I would be surprised if there is anything formal in the near future (maybe after the begining of the year)

I agree. I don't think Disney will say a word for quite a while. DVC is different then most Disney improvements, an announcement doesn't improve profits but decreases them by delaying sales.

It is the Fort Wilderness Barn moving plans leaked thread in the rumors section. Ravin is the Disney insider.
I am looking for this thread too. Didn't see it in the rumors section.
