I better hurry and finish these trip reports. I am forgetting what days we did what.
Me- Nate(28)
Wife- Jen (30)
Daughter- Paige (4)
Niece- Jamie (14)
Nephew -Junior (14)
Day 3
We woke from our first night camping and admittedly, it was a rough night. It was cold, and we know cold being from Chicago. It must have dropped to about 50 degrees. We defiantly had to get to the Target. I brought only summer shorts and Tees and couldnt take another night of freezing.
I found it much harder to sleep than my wife and the kids, so I was up the earliest. We hadnt gone to the store yet to get food for camping so I walked to the Meadows trading post to pick us up some coffee and donuts. They didnt open until 8 am so I waited out front for about 20 minutes. Fort Wilderness is such a beautiful place and everyone is so friendly.
The Teens were off to the swimming pool as soon as they woke up (around 11).
The wife and so SLOW when it comes to getting ready in the morning. Take her camping and you can multiply that by 2. Around noon or so we were ready to explore. We meet up with the Teens at Trails End Buffet and were immediately seated. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Not only is it inexpensive compared to other Disney buffets but it is one of the best. We have tried just about every restaurant in WDW and Trails end marks up there with the best. There is not much there as far as theme, but if you are looking for a good safe meal it comes highly recommended.
The Fort Wilderness pool was pretty plain. Not as bad as some of the pictures I have seen online though. There was construction going on the roof of the pool house and was a bit of a distraction at times. Anyone headed out in the next few days should expect to hear a lot of banging and sawing.
I have been putting off the trip to the store long enough. We toke a drive to the Super Target we passed on the way here. My Niece and Wife picked up some new clothes and I picked out some snacks and light breakfast food. I tried to get out as fast as possible. Leaving WDW defiantly ruins my mood. I never leave property once we arrive. I even get angry when I make a wrong turn and leave accidentally.
We spent some time waling around and enjoying the scenery at FW. We headed out to Downtown Disney to look around. We were expecting to eat at Downtown Disney for dinner but couldnt stay because the tent was open and it started raining pretty hard. We hoped a bus back to the camp and secured the tent. Our last chance for dinner was back to the Trails End Buffet. We just made it before the last seating.
The food for dinner was excellent as well. Little did we know we would meet the topic of all my Nieces conversation from here on out. She meet a nice kid from New Jersey the same age as her, 14. The Boy ,Mikey and his brother Joey were only a few sites down from us. My Niece, Nephew and the two boys mad plans to meet up later that week. My Niece, who is absolutely boy crazy couldnt stop talking about them. The rest of the trip my Nephew was looking to top his sister by meeting a girl his age. Its funny how fast kids grow up. I remember just last year we were buying toy dolls and Pokeman cards.
We settled in for another cold and wet night. Everyone brought warm clothes and PJs except me. Somehow I remember 55 feeling much warmer. I wouldnt dare say anything to the wife while we were there, but I had another uncomfortable sleep. I knew she didnt want to camp and a complaint from me would have given me a deserved I told you so. So, I just bundled on an extra shirt and shut up.
Day 4
Today is the day I have been waiting for, Magic Kingdom! We got a really slow start again. I dont think we got to the park until about 1 or 2. That was OK because today was extra magic hour and the park was open till 1am. We spent most of the morning meeting out new camping Neighbors. It is rare for the wife and me to find a couple we both get along with. They were local Floridians and 1st time campers also. They had 2 young girls my daughters age.
As soon as we stepped in the park we were hungry. We thought we would give Liberty Tree tavern a try. The Food was average. The service was poor. We had a waitress that didnt look like she was happy working that day. She rolled her eyes at my Nephew who was taking to long to order and didnt even smile until she brought the bill and was ready for her tip. Oh, well every Disney employee cant be perfect every day.
Magic Kingdom was fun as usual. I had a great time taking my Nephew on all the great rides for the first time. He didnt seam very impressed the classics. I dont think I did at his age either. Now that I am older I really understand the creativity and innovations involved. I wonder what other Teens and Pre-Teens think of the MK going for the first time. I thought the Stitch ride was terrible. In my opinion it was a waste of money. It made no sense.
The MK was still crowded after the park officially closed to day guest. Disney hotels are so inexpensive and off site hotels so inconvenient, I imagine most people visiting are on site guest. We waited way to long to have dinner. By the time we were hungry again everything was closed. We just made it to the tomorrow land counter service to see them serve the last customer. We were told Caseys on main street was open but it was closed also. It was about midnight and we were hungry. We were pretty much out of luck. We made it back to the camp and everything was closed there also. We ended up eating chips and candy for dinner. Next time we know to plan our dining schedule better.
More to come ..
