I have read about the campfire at Fort Wilderness where you can roast marshmallows and they show an outdoor movie; I think I read that Chip and Dale are also there. Does anyone have any info on that? :confused3
Our family (myself, DH, DS11, and DD6) will be taking our first trip to WDW (10/4 - 10/14) and this sounds like a fun activity. We will be having dinner one night at WC and thought we could do this afterwards. Does this happen nightly? We are not staying at WL. Can anyone join in or must you be a guest there? We are staying on Disney property at POP. Is there a charge for this activity. Thanks for the help!!

The campfire is at the Fort Wilderness campgrounds and not at WL. You can take a boat from WL to FW or they also have a bus that runs between the two. The campfire is open to all WDW resort guests. It does happen nightly unless it is raining. They sell smore making kits or you can bring your own. I believe it starts at about 7:30 but I could be wrong. My kids love this activity and Chip and Dale are their favorites. If you need more (or better  ) info, you can ask this over on the camping board and the experts will help you out.

You don't have to be a guest of the FW to go. On our last trip a few weeks ago the sing along part with Chip and Dale started around 7:00 and the movie started at 8:00. While there is no charge for the movie, there is a charge for the smores kit. We did it a few years ago and were bummed we were not able to do it this trip due to the rain. When you check in ask for the schedule, they will give it to you.

We don''t even have kids and we love the campfire singalong, we've done it twice now. You don't have to be a FW guest, just a guest of any WDW resort. Which you will be. No charge! It's soooo much fun. It does happen nightly, but times change from season to season. Call about 5 days prior to when you want to do it and they'll let you know what time it starts. We've never stayed for the movie...we just roast marshmallows and do the singalong. There's a wonderful CM there, her name is Sundee. She's the BEST!

Where do you find the schedule of movies? We are going the end of Sept and I haven;t seen a list of the movies yet.

We stayed at the cabins on our last trip & really enjoyed the campfire. I brought a pack of hot dogs, some hot dog buns, & a bag of marshmellows. We bought sticks (at the same stand that sells the smore kits) for $.35. They also sell hot dogs at the food stand. I wish I had brought a blanket, the seats are comfortable to watch the movie, but many people had brought blankets for the kids to lay on down in front of the seating. That is the only thing I want to do differently next time.

We all had a great time. I was not expecting to enjoy ourselves so much, but the kids still talk about it.

Have a great time!!!

How much are the s'more kits ?
Would the WL know the times/movie for the campfire?
Or do you have to call the Wilderness Campground for info ?

We are staying at the WL and seems like a great way to spend the evening.

Do you wear shorts or jeans?

Do you use bug repellent ?

Sorry for so many questions.

Bump... looking for those answers too! :cool1:

Great questions. I was just subscribing to await the answers.
Also we're doing HDDR at the 5:00 show for the first time and was wondering if the campfire was near there and if so how do we get from the HDDR to the campfire and will we have the time? Both sound like fun.
Thanks

I called WDW and the campfire/movie with Chip N Dale is booked/scheduled 5 days out (as to time and what movie is played) and to call 407-824-2727 as they would have that information. I contacted that # and was told that currently (August) it starts at 8:00 but during later months it does bump up to 7:00pm as it gets dark earlier. They suggested I call right before we head down or once we check in to contact them again as they will have the up to date hours and what movies they will be playing. The singalong is approximately 40 minutes long with the movie following.

Copied over from allears.net:
Go to Fort Wilderness for the campfire/sing-along, nightly at 7pm behind the Meadow Trading Post. Movie begins approximately 7:40pm. A Disney classic movie follows the sing-along. Chip and Dale usually make an appearance. The Fort Wilderness staff will provide a campfire; bring your marshmallows, hot dogs and sticks if you have them. If not, marshmallows and sticks are available for purchase at $2 for 2 sticks and plenty of marshmallows; $5 for a s'more kit. The movie shown is different each night of the week. In the event of inclement weather, a "Porch Jam" sing-a-long will take place at the Ol' Meadow Swimmin' Hole. Movie & Sing-a-Long free of charge. Note: All movies & characters are outside! Campfire Show is held nightly if weather permits.

Hope this helps all...we are planning this right after dinner at Trails End Buffet. It's about 1/2 mile walk from Trails End if you need a reference point.

We stayed at FW in May and needed bug spray most nights. Jeans or shorts? I'd say go based on temperature that day.

Anyone know if it is the campfire (roasting marshmallows part) that starts @ 7pm then the movie following @ 8pm??? Or will the campfire part not start until 8pm?? We have a ressie @ WCC @ 820 for dinner, but I would love to take dds to campfire and petting farm before dinner!!

The campfire event starts at 7:00pm may change depending on sunset. We were there the last week in March before daylight savings time change. The show begins with Chip and Dale and jolly lady singing Disney songs on a small stage. Chip and Dale starts out in the crowd then moves to the stage. You can take pictures with him at this time as he walks up and down the rows. Two fire caldrons about 8 feet by 8 feet are positioned on either side of a large movie screen. In the center there are camp style half logs seats and bleachers to view the movie. Chip and Dale starts the show and leaves pretty quickly and the lady continues to sing and then introduces the movie/movies. When we were there they played double features. (Freaky Friday, Aladdin, Brother Bear, Valiant...Something Different Each Evening). The fire rings stay open the entire time. During the second feature the place clears out and it is more peaceful at the fire circle.

Hope this sets the stage.

The kids loved it...I wasn't a big fan of the crowds. Weeknights it is a little quieter. :tink:

The campfire/singalong/movie are held every night, and Chip and Dale are there. Some nights there are two movie showings. If it rains the singalong is held under cover. It is at the Meadows area of the fort wilderness campground. I know the 1500 loop/Meadows bus stop on the Yellow line is one stop you can get off to get to the campfire. On the orange line it's probably the 900/1000 loop stop. You can get a bus from Wilderness Lodge or the ferry from the Magic Kingdom. There are also buses coming to FW from all the theme parks. Don't get your heart set on a good marshmallow roast, though. They don't knock the fires down, and it's very difficult to roast a marshmallow properly over an open flame. Other than that, it's a great time. We've camped at FW four times and while we don't go to the campfire nightly, we make time for it at least once or twice during each stay.
