Opinions please!!

I am thinking of staying at a Fort Wilderness cabin. There will be 2 adults and 4 children ages 2,3,8,12. Any advice would be great!!

Never stayed there myself but, have you looked at the wilderness campgrounds info thread?
It will probably give you lots of info and pics!

With the ages of the kids, FW has lots of space. The transportation can be slow so request a cabin near a bus stop.

You will LOVE the cabins!!!!!They are so much fun, we have gone 5 times with our family of 6 except now they are grown. 2 years ago though we all went together with their husband and wife, rented 2 cabins but their memories there made them have to go there again. The only thing though is a golf cart really makes it so much better and exciting. It is so relaxing driving one and you can do so much more. However they may be more than what you allow in your budget. It is so nice to get up in the morning and have your coffee on the porch. You can let the kids sleep in the back bedroom and you won't disturb them. The boat ride to the Magic Kingdom is fun and relaxing. Just gettin an ice cream at night at the trading post is great. After a busy day in the park it is so quiet. It is easier to get around to the other parks if you have a car but it is not necessary. We are taking all the kids and our 1st grandchild in 3 years(she is only 1 right now.)::MinnieMo

We have stayed in the cabins twice now and love them. We rented a gold car for one day and it was great. Very pricey, but fun. Make sure you get a cabin close to the bus stop, or you will have a bit of a trek. Not easy with slow toddlers when you hear the bus coming. We have stayed at Peacock Pass and Bobcat Bend and those locations were great. I have three kids under age 4 so it works out perfect for us having a seperate bedroom - they are all in that room and DH and I are in the pull down bed. And they have kitchens and a grill outside and nice deck and picnic table for barbecuing outside.

The pools are not great for little ones though. I would love it if they had a zero depth entry pool.

And they have a petting zoo and ponies for kids to ride. We watched the fireworks at night on the beach and it was a perfect view. They have nightly campfires for roasting marshmellows and smores and a movie on a giant screen. Chip and Dale also make an appearance.

The cabins themselves are wonderful. Pools and transporation are not nearly as good. Since my children are older and we concentrate on parks and pool, it wasn't the right place for us.

check out the website www.disneycampers.com I think you will get alot of information on the campgrounds. Another tip is to get groceries somewhere off site, the trading post is pretty expensive, however it is convienent.

FW FAQ Check out this link for pics and info.

We stayed there once. If you like the campground atmosphere you will love FW. I suggest renting a golf cart. It helps in getting around or to the campfire or general store. It's nice because you get a kitchen and a BBQ. The general store is expensive so buy your items off property.

Great choice! I highly recommend them.
Having a car (your own or rented) is well advised. We had our car and THANK GOD! The bus system is complicated and sketchy. Mousesavers.com has codes every now and again. Last time I looked they had a special on minivans --$199 per/week. Consider it.:D

When we stayed there, we had 3 adults and 2 8yr old girls. It was no problem. My SIL slept in the living room on the murphy bed and my DW and I slept in the bedroom with the 2 girls in the bunkbed in the same room as us. The only thing is the one bathroom.
