Fort Wilderness and Kids

Has anyone stayed at Fort Wilderness lately? We are wondering what there is fun to do with kids. We heard about a campfire and wonder if that is nightly or what. Our son (6) is really excited about making smores or doing something like that. What other fun things to do with kids of all ages. The cousins will be there so we'll have bunches of little ones.

We stayed at WL, but spent some time at FW, and our DS had a ball. There is a petting zoo, pony rides, and you can check out the stables where all of the horses who work at WDW live. Our son's name is Cameron, and there was a horse named Cam who lives there but that day was working at the MK on Main Street USA.

Just got back from FW. In addition to what's listed in this thread, there's playgrounds, swimming pools and carriage/wagon rides. Our kids enjoyed the campfire and making smores. (Although it wasn't as exciting as us adults thought it was going to be.)

Be sure to bring good bug repellant. I was eaten alive!!!! No one else in my family suffered, just me, though.

My family stayed in a cabin at Fort Wilderness last Nov. (kids 9 & &7). Half way through our 8 day vacation we took a day off from the parks and spend the day at the campground. We rented a golf cart, swam in the pools, went to the bon fire and marshmallow roast, then to the beach to watch the electric water pagent. It was a great day and we where well rested to continue to do the parks the rest of our vaca.

Hey DaddioTN - Welcome to the DIS!

The camping board is great and I used it quite a bit when planning our trips the past two years.

My girls love it! Its great to ride the boat launch over to MK.

The Trail End Buffet is a very good deal and good food.

The Electrical Water Pagent is very cool to watch from beach.

We rented a pontoon boat and DH even let each girl "steer" it.

Chip and Dale appear at the campfire, just before the movie.

Can't wait to go back home to FW.
