I have to share today was the big reveal day for our first Fort Wilderness stay! I found this design online and 3D printed it. We will turn it into a magnet I think.

I left it out this morning for the kids to find with their Easter baskets. We still do them for my teenagers though I guess it might be the last year for my oldest as she graduates in May (how did that happen?) We started a tradition when they were little of doing baskets on Saturday so they could enjoy them without feeling rushed as we head out to Sunday morning church services and its stuck through all the years.

They already knew about the trip as its going to be Christmas for us this year but they didn't know I was looking at staying at a Disney resort for the first time with them. Normally we stay off property where I can use Marriott points. I don't think they realize quite what staying at the Fort means. We've visited Wilderness Lodge to eat and look around before we cruise a couple times but I don't think they have any idea what the Fort will be like especially right before Christmas. I didn't have any idea when I booked it.

Sharing with the kids always gets me excited and with everything going on between work, end of school year and the world being a crazy stressful place I can use a nice distraction at the moment. There is nothing like researching and planning a new to you Disney vacation experience!

You and family will LOVE the Fort at Christmas. The Fort is great without the holiday decorations. At Halloween and Christmas it transforms into incredible.

What 3D printer do you have? I made that same print a couple of years ago, but my A1 and A1 mini only do 4 colors with the AMS. Or did you do the yellow and then switch a spool?

We recently got a Bambu P2S with the 4 color AMS. We had one failed attempt before we got it right. My wife had to watch and pause it to swap a spool (light tan to red). The design said it had the pause built in but we discovered it wasn't at the right time.

Very nice, @greensombrero, and a cool idea to reveal the destination/resort on your Christmas trip.

Tell me, I'm getting old and maybe you said it someplace else here, but how are you staying at the Fort on your visit? DVC cabin? Rental Trailer? Your own rv/trailer?

The Fort is very pretty at Christmas. The family will enjoy looping (walking or golf carting around the various loops) to see the decorations that campers put up on their sites (cabin guests do some too - several did a big job at Halloween not long ago). Looping can be addictive but IMO it's best done in chunks of a handful of loops each night out.

PS - we did December at the Fort a LONG time ago but the allure has never stopped. Good weather, great decorations, no longer a low crowd time. Set expectations accordingly.

That is really thoughtful. How fun for the big kids. Our big kids still get baskets & we still stage the farm with an egg hunt. Little trinkets and magnets make great memorabilia. One trip, Jim’s son, Ian gave us a 3D printed Disney token. On another trip, Bama Ed gifted us a Disboard magnet.

No worries, we are staying in a cabin. I originally just picked it because it works well for our size of family and I wanted to stay at a Disney resort but now I'm realizing we are going to wish we had more time to just enjoy the fort.

I'm thinking about maybe ordering some supplies to be shipped there so we can do a bit of decorating of either the cabin or golf carts (I did get a reservation). I'm curious how people decorate their golf carts? I've seen photos with lights and inflatables but am unclear how they power them? Is it just batteries or do the carts have some onboard electrical connector?

Thanks for all the info!
