How often are the pools cleaned? My wife and I were going back and forth on how often they are cleaned, her being a germaphobe she doesn't like the pools or hot tubs .

Also what are the rules on bringing your own kiddy pool to your site?

1) Pools are "maintained" daily.
. . . debris removed
. . . chemically titrated, including a chlorine substitute for germs
2) Pools are not drained and cleaned, unless there is a major "protein spill".
3) Even most "protein spills" are just treated until the water quality is acceptable.
4) Kiddies pools are not permitted due to safety concerns.
. . . there is no fence, so other guests could hurt/drown in them
. . . there is no way to police them for safety devices or methods
. . . there is no way for WDW to protect form lawsuits

NOTE: A "protein spill" is an inside term for accidents that children might have in the pool (it can be liquid, but usually means solids).

Thank you very much, I figured they were treated daily just wasn't sure.

1) They are "maintained" every day.
2) Based upon the chemical analysis and titration, "treatment" might not be needed.
3) In that case, they still meet the specs.

Although I dont know the specifics, I do know that the state of Florida requires that workers maintaining the pools be licensed or certified and records are kept on the testing throughout the day. I believe that is common in some states when dealing with public pools.

Even though the hot tubs are supposed to be cleaned/checked daily, there is a lot that can go on in that time period especially when children are not kept out.

I'm sort of like your wife - public hot tubs are definitely 'out' for us - mainly because of the 'small' size and the temp. of the water - ideal breeding grounds for germs IMO. :(

We saw a large party at a site across from us in our loop that filled a kiddie pool, but wasn't there very long! There was water 'everywhere' and I don't think the neighboring sites were too 'happy'! Couldn't blame them!
