Hi,

We will be flying into Ft Lauderdale a couple of days before our caribbean cruise departs .. I was thinking about looking into securing a room at Vero Beach but wasn't sure if it makes sense to travel from Ft Lauderdale to Vero for two nights. We have a very early morning flight and would be in Ft lauderdale by 10 AM on Friday, but would need to be back in Ft Lauderdale by noon on Sunday.

Has anyone driven from Ft Lauderdale to Vero? Just trying to decide if it's worth the travel effort or if we should just stay put in the Ft Lauderdale area.

It's been several years since we spent any time at Vero Beach and we thought this might be a good opportunity to go back and check out the resort and surrounding area.

Thanks!

Its about a 2 to 2.5 hour drive to Vero and we do it every year and stay just 2 days coming or going from Disney to the Ft Lauderdale area (visiting Mom).

We also spent 2 days in VB before our last cruise too.

If you want to enjoy the beach for a few days and not pay alot of points its totally worth it. We ususally just get an inn room. VB is very quiet and not as exciting as Ft Lauderdale, but compare the cost of a beach front hotel in Ft Lauderdale (a nice one and the cost to stay in VB) then decide. Also, take into consideration the time of year you are going. Last FEB 2010 when we were at VB the temps were only 50-55 degrees and rainy. Its a little warmed in Ft Lauderdale (however, not much warmer.

Have a great vacation!!

Very easy drive. The Fort Lauderdale airport is immediately adjacent to I-95 and very easy to get in and out of. Just get on I-95 and head north.

You will need to know where to get off though, because there is no exit right at Vero Beach, and from where you get off I-95, it's somewhat of a drive through Vero and over to the DVC VB resort.
