We usually go to the fort around the first few weeks of December. I was thinking about Thanksgiving next year. How is it? Is it crazy busy? Would they have Christmas decorations up by then or be putting them up?

Thanks.

I'll be interested in reading the responses...I'll be able to report back after this Thanksgiving -our first TG at WDW and our first stay at the Fort! We're doing "Thanksgiving at the Fort" as well, so I'll be able to report back on that too, but hopefully someone will weigh in with experience in past years.

We'll be there in 2009 also. We stayed there for the whole week of thanksgiving 2 years ago. It was busy but not too bad for the first part of the week. It was slammed from Thursday onward. Still, it was a great time and we would have been there this year but we are going to Disneyland.

We've been at the fort for the last 4 years. We get there late Thursday as we eat with family and then drive down. It is a great time to go because the parks and resorts have their decs up as well as the studios have the Osborne Lights up. That is NOT to be missed. We come home late Monday as it takes us all those days to see the resorts and other decorations plus the parks.

Weds, Thurs (T-day), Friday and Saturday are pretty crazy - especially at MK. There are also dining surcharges at some restaurants on Thanksgiving day.

The holiday decorations/festivities are all up and in full swing by Friday (incl. MVMCP, Osborne lights, Candlelight Processional...)

Because it's so crazy (we once got stuck in the MK on Thanksgiving Day - YIKES!) we usually plan to arrive the Sunday after T-day and will be this year also (our 4th trip this time of year). Things clear out pretty nicely and the crowds are relatively low and it's super festive.

Enjoy! :santa:

btw, forgot to mention... if you decide to go Thanksgiving week 2009, better make your reservations NOW!

We were going to go T-week this year (2008) and when I tried to make reservations in JANUARY we could not get anything at all for that week - specifically Weds/Thurs/Fri. We have a hybrid and would have plunked it just about anywhere, but there were not sites at all to be had for those 3 days.

We where there 2007 and TG week was packed all week also 2005. When I went as a kid there use to be nobody there that time of year. I blame the travel channel. Those holiday specials at WDW.

:lmao:

DH keeps saying that I should STOP telling people what a great time of year it is to go between Thanksgiving and Christmas so we can keep it "our little secret" and keep the crowds down. :rolleyes1

Funny. That is what got me interested in going a few years ago.

Thanks guys for the feedback.

Until I started hanging out here on the Dis I always said WDW is ok nothing special. But thats just because its so hard to get a ressie I did not want any more competition.:lmao:

It's PACKED! We got a camper once again for Christmas last year and immediatly tried to get reservations for Thanksgiving this year and missed out. And yes, we have been calling for cancellations. So, as soon as we were allowed to this year we booked our Thanksgiving trip for next year (2009). If you want to go during Thanksgiving week, you MUST book at least a year inadvance or you'll be trying to compete with tons of people hoping for a cancellation (including me).LOL!

We use to go every year to the campground for Thanksgiving and we ALWAYS brought Christmas decorations and start put them up as soon as we get there the day before Thanksgiving. We usually have them all up and turned on by Thanksgiving night. :)

Ah....I miss it and was hoping to go back this year, alas I'll be waiting til next year for a little of that Disney Christmas magic.

I can't make up my mind on what to do. I better do it soon so I don't get shut out of Thanksgiving if we decide we want to go then. Right now there is still availability.

I don't know if I want to trade the crowd levels. It is pretty light when we go in December.

Wish we could do both but we are too far away.

Decisions, decisions. :scratchin :scratchin :scratchin :scratchin :scratchin
