Hi DISfolks, I always wanted to rent a camper to stay in Fort wilderness. I noticed this message today.
Due to recent developments beyond our control, as of December 2015, Fort Camper Rental will be forced to close it's doors. All reservations starting in October and November will NOT be affected. We have enjoyed providing our services to families and meeting new friends. We are truly saddened about this unfortunate turn of events
I wondered if anyone had any information this, I am hoping it is not a Disney profiteering issue.

Lawrence,

I don't have a clue. I can think of several reasonable scenarios (most of them requiring FCR to commit to a full calendar year in 2016 for something that they don't want to do) that would cause them to cut off service before 2016.

There are still other trailer rental options for you, of course, but none are as inexpensive as a pop-up. Having owned a popup for over a decade (and denied the siren call to move up to bigger and better), popups were the least expensive way to get off the ground for a family of 3 min (a Disney rental tent and two cots still is cheaper). But we get to be a part of the outdoors in the popup (or hybrid if you have canvas bunk ends).

So short answer is, I don't know an answer to your question. The FCR did a good job for their customers from what we heard. But time marches on.
