I am one of the rare Americans who can't get enough of F1 racing and I think NASCAR is the the most boring form of racing on the planet. My next European trip (2012 or 2013) will be centered around hitting at least 1 F1 GP. My sole in-person racing experience was an Indycar street race in Detroit about 10 years ago. I originally wanted to go to Monaco but I'm reading now that it's more about spectacle and being seen than the race itself and from most of the grandstands you can literally only see the short bit of track right in front of you. For those of you who have been to different GPs or else maybe have some more insight than I do what do you think of my analysis?

Istanbul-Cheapest of all GPs so-so experience? May be dropped from the schedule.
Spanish(Valencia)-Very expensive, boring due to lack of overtaking
Silverstone-Hard to get to the circuit and the traffic is horrendous after the race. Decent probability of rain.
Hockenheim-Does a flat course mean no bad seats?
Budapest-Circuit is in a valley, no bad seats?
Spa-Very expensive. Great circuit, considered the best?
Monza-Relatively inexpensive (for F1). Possibly too fast of a circuit to enjoy in person?

I am aware that there will be a GP in the US next year. Right now I'm leaning towards Germany, Hungary or Italy.

Sorry can't help you but I'm a great f1 fan if I was to go I would want to go to monaco I went there last year for a short trip it was great

I'm a big F1 fan too, but I have only been to Silverstone. We avoided the traffic problems by camping down there the day before and we didn't leave till later in the evening after the race

Where is the US F1 race being held next year ?

If I won the lottery I would go to Monaco or Italy to see a race :)

Monaco would be the one for me. I haven't been to any of these on your list but I do love F1. I will be going to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at end of year. The circuit there is set in a fantastic location, I have been to many races there but so looking forward to seeing F1. :yay:

Sure you will have a fantastic time whichever one you decide on :goodvibes

Having been to Silverstone and Hockenheim, I'd probably go back to Germany if distance for me wasn't an issue. Just don't forget your earplugs :)

The US GP begins in 2012 in a new circuit built outside of Austin, Texas. If we don't go to Europe next year I will definitely be attending this one. I've planned to go to Montreal (5.5 hour drive) for years but the race always seems to be on a weekend when I have plans.

We went around 8 years ago now.
I LOVED silverstone.but no way would I wear ear plugs, I loved the sound of the cars.
We had rain, it was ALL good though.
I suppose for atmosphere you couldnt beat Italy. But as a country I would prefer germany.

I have to say, I think its ALL a bit boring now, example..1st race, pole sitter won.

Now MOTOGP thats another story, we went to laguna seca last year to see it and LOVED it.
I think the traffic is much better than it was years ago when we went ,they were constructing a new m/way for the circuit.
Good luck whatever you decide.
