Formosa Garden Estates

Formosa Gardens was our community of choice for many years before we discovered Reunion. It's still one of the premier resorts in the area, albeit that it may no longer have that "very new" feel to it. Without exception it has the biggest lots of any of the sub-divisions. We came very close to renting on WP and EI on more than one occasion - they're both fabulous communites and I am always keen to rent new properties - but we kept coming back to FG.

Lisa BC - we have rented that very home (when it was brand new and from its previous owner). It was new in 2004. We first started renting on FG in 2001, so it's amongst one of the newer properties on that development. If you have any questions, I'll be pleased to try to answer them. I have some photos, but not any better than those on the website. Incidentally, we've also stayed at the Diamond villa on that website which is next door.

Debbie (& Paul)!

We are OK with things not looking brand new, as long as they are well maintained. There is actually some appeal to the home because the landscaping is starting to look more mature and more inviting.

Thanks for providing some insight and information about Formosa Gardens. Getting directions to the WDW parks was the most important thing for me. I can't honestly think of specific questions that I have at this moment about the property. The pictures provide a fairly thorough overview of the home.

Debbie, if you have any recollection of the master bathroom in the King bedroom adjacent to the game room, I would love to hear your thoughts. The owners do not include pictures of the bathrooms on their website. From the diagram I can tell it is a "walk-in" shower. Do you remember if it was a decent size or was it uncomfortably small?

The normal fit out of that type of house is that the two main 1st floor bedrooms have large showers, the one with pool access is slightly smaller.

Just have a look at other 7 bedroom homes of the same design, the layout is nearly the same in the them all, the only differences being the color of the countertops and the tiles.

Try looking at www.villaformosa.com, for an idea of the home layout (I have no relation to this site)

The community was built in two phases, half the homes were built in 2000/1, and the remaining homes in 2003, however, about three lots were not built on, so one home was complete in 2005, another in 2006, and the last home will be finished anytime now. The latter 3 are all 5000 sq ft + homes.

I am the first home owner to do any major work, the home is completely gutted, so everything will be brand new, I am sure other home owners will do the same in time.

I suppose the only thing to check on the owners websites is when the pictures were last updated, personally I would have thought that every two years would be fine.

Lisa - I tried to find photos of the bathrooms, but I must have trashed them. I know I would have taken some, because the first thing I do when we arrive is to take photos of every room. No-one's allowed to start bringing in the luggage until I've done it. :rotfl:

As you say, it's a walk-in shower. It has a full length screen with a sliding door and is in the space you could also put a tub (the type/size that you would find in most hotel rooms). My husband and I visited with my brother and s-i-l, so we only used the two main master suites. After our initial tour of the property, I doubt I hardly set foot in that room and we certainly didn't use the shower, so I can't say how big it is from a practical point of view.

The back room is the bigger of the two main master suites, by the way, although you've probably worked that out from the plan. What you can't really tell is that it also has a slightly nicer feel to it, thanks to the light from the french doors and a higher ceiling. Both are very nice, though.
