Hi everyone,
I just recently joined the real world after working for a year and half on the wonder and magic as the cruise directors assistant and in the children's programming. So any advice or help I can offer I am happy too. My family cruised in December and loved the ship, were going on a 7 day next year.

were you on for the 10-day cruise?

How is the food in the crew dining room? What are the general demographics of the crew (gender, age, etc)?

thanks!

ooh! thanks for posting vanessa, i've been dying to ask... (if you don't mind)
does Disney treat its cruise crewmembers well? perhaps i should clarify - good treatment meaning in terms of pay, benefits, overall appreciation. i ask not because i am planning on joining up but because i am planning on cruising and it is always nice to know that i am supporting a company that supports its employees and treats them fairly.

i know this is a heavy question, if you don't feel like answering that's cool too.

thanks!

As a cruise crew member did you prefer tips in cash or done through guest services. To me it doesn't matter which way so I would like to do it the way that would be more beneficial for crew member. (maybe a secret cash stash) or to send home to family.

how hard is it to become an employee? I would love to work for Disney between college and Law school.

Charlotte, we enjoyed the stageshows so very much on our 12/4/04 cruise. We saw Dreams at the matinee & the evening show. Sorry to hear that Hurcules will be ending soon though...LOVE that show!!! Will you be returning to the Magic?

Sorry for such a delayed reply, Im glad you enjoyed the shows, they are fantastic arent they! i know hercules was probably my favourite show to perform, closely followed by the Cruella act in Golden Mickeys! Hopefully i shall be returning to the Magic sometime soon in the future, either july or next year, it really is a wonderful job, and i love the ship so much! will you be returning again do you think?

We will be there again on the 12/10/05 cruise. I know that DD "has" to have her picture taken with Belle in her own yellow gown. :) She was all dressed & ready last time to go to the Til We Meet Again and at 9:30 she slid off the dress & crawled into bed. She told me to tell Belle that "she just couldn't do it." LOL! There weren't as many opps with Belle on our trip & one of the nights Sleeping Beauty was out at the same time. Since we had never met her before, that's the dress DD had on. Next time I am putting ALL of the dresses in a bag & carrying it around with me. I can just slip into the the bathroom with DD to change her for the next picture. ;)

Charlotte and Vanessa.....I am sure I have seen both of you onboard!!! We have sailed on DCL 13 times and going on the August repo as well!!! As you can see we are hooked on DCL and always find the staff to be excellent...we never had a bad cruise experience!!!

Vanessa....you must know Andy (tall Aussie) from the Wonder (originally on Magic with Cruise Staff)...we just saw him earlier this year and have been on a few cruises with him.....and of course Shawn (Shore Excursion manager)...they are both great guys!!! Ohh and of course Andrea (Aussie) from Cruise Staff on the Magic...she is living now in London.....very sweet girl!!!

Welcome back to the real world!!!

Would like to know this also.
Additionally, I've read posts here on the DIS that some people give out extra gifts-such as phone cards, bags of candy, etc. Are those things, ,I guess I'd say... appreciated? Or do you have any suggestions of better things to give out as an extra thank you?
