I'm trying to put my photos on Smug Mug and am having some trouble.

In my class I saved all my pics in my portfolio as TIFFs (as required by our teacher). I've got them on a flash drive and when I bring them up they say they are a "Microsoft Document Imaging File." I thought I saved them as TIFF? Smug Mug allows you to upload all different formats (including TIFF) but when I open the folder that has my images in them, none of them show up because they aren't tiffs.

What am I doing wrong? I edited these in photoshop CS3 on a mac and saved them under Mac & IBM meaning I should be able to open them on a PC too.

Ah if I only had CS3 :)

I was wondering if there was anything else I can do. I use the CS3 at the school lab and haven't sprung for my own yet. I was wondering why they wouldn't show up as TIFF when I saved them as TIFFs.

I could just save as tonight in class. Was just wondering if anyone knew why I had this issue. Maybe I'll try contacting smug mug and see if they know/understand.

Thanks!

They are probably still TIFFs. Microsoft created a format called MDI (Microsoft Document Imaging) to compete against PDF. It's actually based on the TIFF file format, but jsut enough different to be proprietary. I don't know of anyone that uses it.

Microsoft's viewer can also display TIFF files. My guess is that when you open the TIFF file, Microsoft's MDI viewer is opening the file and displaying.
