I know this may sound silly but I'm not sure of what to wear for formal night. I haven't dressed up in ages. I am a SAHM and when I do go out to dinner it's usually to an Outback Steakhouse or Applebees, LOL. I dont even have anything to wear. So, I'm asking if you can post your pics on what you wore to formal night so I can get an idea of what is in and what is expected. Thanks :-)

I too am a SAHM who doesnt get out much. ;)
Heres what I wore on formal night on our recent cruise(not DCL), and I will probably wear the same thing on the Magic this summer.

I usually always wear a long dress for formal night and on semi-formal I wear either a black pantsuit or other dressy pantsuit. My girls have gotten good use out of their homecoming/prom dresses on our many formal nights!!! On semi formal night they wear cocktail length dresses.

Oh my gosh! Where did you get that beautiful Red dress for your daughter? I LOVE it!

On the seven-night cruises, they have photographers set up all over the atrium and by the Walt Disney Theatre all night on formal night and you can choose which backdrop you want and take more than one if you want, at no extra charge. The photos will be available later at Shutters, 8x10 for $19.95, and they are not part of any package, though I bought five or six and they threw in an 8x10 of the ship all lighted up at night and a portfolio that holds 2 8x10s. The photographers are also available at other times with backdrops set up (dd and her new best friend took a set of pics together with a stuffed Winnie the Pooh, don't know if this was with the kids club or not. She begged me to buy it, so I did). You can also set up an appointment to have photos taken at other times as well.

I wore a beaded black blouse with georgette trousers, the kind that has panels that make it look like a skirt too.

Here is my Husband and Daughter on our last cruise. I can't find one with me in it, but I wore a floor length dress with a wrap.

Thanks, guys. Enjoyed seeing your pictures - beautiful!! I was wondering about this myself since we'll be on the Magic for the first time next year. Guess I'll have to start shopping, LOL. :boat:

I don't know if you have kids, but a GREAT time to look for dresses for them would be after Easter and after Christmas. They always have formal-like dresses out for these two holidays, and they usually go on a massive sale after they are over!

Thanks for the tip! (My DD7 is better dressed than I am for sure...) You're right, I was in Marshall's today and noticed they had some really nice formal girls dresses.

What do young boys wear for formal night? I have a DS7 and thought it might be fun for him and DH to wear tuxes since I don't know another time they'd get to do that. Is that what most people do?

Well, I have a little girl, but I think having your son wear a tuxwith his Dad would be adorable! I am pretty sure that I have seen young boys in tuxes. You'll find a mixed bag of dress for formal night, but you definatly won't feel like you are sticking out if they do wear them! My husband always wears a tux for formal night, and has for Palo as well. I would totally put a young boy in one at age seven!

Thanks!! I got the dress off eBay. On the Wonder Shutters sets up every night in the atrium for formal pics. No appt needed. 8x10 are 19.99 each. The funny thing about this pic we don't have any shoes on .....cant walk on the back drop with your shoes. I wear glasses too but all the white causes a glare. So just off to the side (which you cant see) are my glasses and all of our shoes.

I don't have any pics to share yet because we haven't done a 7 day with a formal night yet, but I did already buy myself a formal for next December. I found it after New Years at Dillards. It was half off so that made it $65 and then I had a few gift cards for there so I only ended up spending $26 on it. :cool1: I have talked DH into renting a tux for formal night. I have also found a formal for DD online at littlemissprincess.com. I thought their prices were pretty good (and grandma wants to buy it for her). Grandma is also going to get a tux for DS. I was looking on ebay for boys tuxes and it looks like we should be able to get one for around $40. I can't wait!!

Wow. Thanks for posting the pics. You guys all look gorgeous. I dont want to spend a fortune on a dress cause it will probably be the only time I wear it but I had better get out there and get something nice. It looks like everyone dresses to the nines. Thanks for everyone's help :-)
