Rookie mistake and I can't believe I left my husbands passport at home I am miserable! We live in California and have sailed with Disney before several times. We are departing San Diego and cruising to nowhere for two nights. Can anyone give me hope?

Is there any way that you can get someone to fax you his birth certificate. For a closed loop cruise like yours, you should be able to sail with the birth certificate. And recent reports say that you can get onboard with just a copy of the birth certificate.

Otherwise, there have been threads on the DIS of people being able to get an expedited passport issued at a passport center (not sure of the name), but I have no idea if there is one in San Diego.

Thank you- I am just sick over this

I am so sorry!! I hope you can find a way to get him a passport. I know that this is something that happens now and then, so you are not the only one. And so far, people regularly come back saying that they were able to get the issue solved. I keep my fingers crossed for you!

Call the cruise line, since it is a cruise to nowhere, you may just be able to board with an ID.

I could be mistaken, but I think if its a cruise to nowhere, you shouldn't need a passport.

do you live a long way from the port? can anyone bring either the passport or birth certificate to you? Yes on a closed port you can get along without a passport but i think you may be required to have a birth certificate (and not a photo copy either - must have a certified stamp) Call the cruise line and ask for help.

We had a similar experience with photocopies being ok. I accidentally packed our passports in our checked bags but had put photocopies of them in all our bags including the carry ons. I showed them the photocopies at check in and they said it was fine.

Thank you!! Spoke with DCL and we have a copy of his birth certificate so they said we are fine!

Whew....that is always my nightmare too (no matter how many time I check my documents, LOL).

PS - I watched the Wonder pull into San Diego on the Webcam this morning. I hope you have an amazing cruise!!! We are getting on Friday and I'm so ready for some time on my favorite ship :)

How do you watch the ship on a webcam? IS there a website. We cruise out next week and that would be cool to see that.

Yep.

I'm taking a "Closed Loop" cruise, do I need a passport?

U.S. Citizens on closed-loop cruises will be able to enter or depart the country on the cruise with proof of citizenship, such as an original or copy of his or her birth certificate (issued by the Vital Records Department in the state where he or she was born) and, if 16 or older, a government issued photo ID.

And from DCL for closed loop:

All Guests claiming U.S. citizenship must present one of the following as proof of U.S. citizenship:
• A valid U.S. Passport
• A valid U.S. Passport Card
• A valid state-issued Enhanced Driver's License - this is a special type of license that provides proof of identity and U.S. citizenship; not all states offer Enhanced Driver's Licenses - visit http://www.getyouhome.gov for the most up to date list of participating states
• A valid Trusted Traveler Card (NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
• Government-issued photo ID along with one of the following:
◦ Original or copy of their state issued birth certificate
▪ Puerto Rico birth certificates issued prior to 7/1/10 are not acceptable

Glad you brought the copy! I would have been renting a car and driving right back up north then back to SD!

Here is the webcam for the Port of San Diego:

I just happened to go to the site when the Wonder was passing by the camera so I got to see a good view of it this morning :-) But when it is in port, they will zoom in on it every once in a while.
