Forget Mayan Calender 2012 prediction...

One reason the media sometimes call it "the worst earthquake in centuries" is because of the amount of damage done or lives lost. Well, the population density is so much higher now that we see more damage and more people killed.

I saw a show not too long ago about Mount Vesuvius. It has not erupted in many centuries, but scientists say it will erupt again before long. Last time, it wiped out the city of Pompeii but that was just a few thousand people. Now there are millions of people living close enough to be killed if it erupts.

The other thing to keep in mind is that in terms of the age of the earth, a few centuries is not very long. The earthquakes we've been seeing lately are all along the fault lines where the plates making up the earth's surface shift. The pressure tends to build up over time - like centuries - until they reach a point where the plates move. But because they are all interconnected and overlapping, you tend to get a series of earthquakes because the movement in one area affects the building up of pressure in another area.

Some of the other disasters - the apparent increase in hurricanes and tornadoes - may be due to climate change (global warming).

I do think, though, that this justifies me making a quick trip to WDW. Must fit in one more visit before the end of the world, right?

I agree with everything you are saying. I kind of find it cool how everything is interconnected and how one event sparks another. I think the earth is just "going through a phrase" and that in the next few years it will calm down again.

Haha, oh yeah, it's very hard - especially when it comes to me, a person who will worry about something at the drop of a hat haha. And yeah, that's true, I hope it is just to get a rise.

I wish the media would capture the other side of this...seeing a billboard say "The world's end cannot be predicted" would be a bit more pleasant :upsidedow

It would be nice if they did show the other side of these things.

The only way we are going to see a 9.0 in North East Ohio is if the Indians win the World Series or the Browns win the Superbowl. In otherwords, almost impossible :lmao:

:lmao: Well if the Indians keep playing the way that they do we might see one of those come true, not likely but still.

Ahhh this makes a lot of sense! :goodvibes

LOL I like it when people get "feelings" about things. When you are a kid you don't question if tomorrow is coming and neither do I. The only thing I question is will I make it.

Now that's a thought. If the rapture comes on the 21st, I wonder if I'll make it. I wonder what the requirements are. I'll google so not to get into religious doctrine here.
