Foreign currency exchange in the US?

DS14 has the equivalent of about $100 US dollars in Chinese Yuan left over from his trip. I checked our bank's online site and the Yuan isn't on of their offered currencies to buy before going on a trip so I need to find a place to do that. I am guessing I need to find a different bank or is there someplace specific I need to go? I figured we could just go to our bank and do this but I guess not.

If you can back to the airport there is usually a currency exchange there.

See if you can find a local/regional Families of Chinese Children (FCC). They will always know someone going soon for an adoption trip and they may be willing to buy the yuans from you.

We aren't far from the airport and DH works near there so that is a good idea. I haven't done a trip report yet because we are still trying to get out of him what he did . We have heard a lot about the food, which he said was good, and the kid that threw up on the Great Wall but that is about it--oh, and the kid didn't take a single picture, none, not even ONE. He has orders to get a couple memory cards from his friends so we can make some prints--boys???????

Call first and make sure it is not in a secured area- or that you can get a special pass to the secured area long enough to exchange it. It should be about $12-$13. Would the band director could collect all the yuans from everyone and do it all at once

NO PICTURES!!!!!! Not even on the Great Wall!! A friend of mine went and rented a phone just so he could call everyone he knew and say - "I'm calling you from the Great Wall". With the 12 hour time change you can imagine how many people really appreciated that phone call in the middle of the night - lol.

I hope you can get him to document his experiences - it is a trip he will want to remember for a lifetime.

They are doing a trip journal on the band website, or so they say anyway-we are waiting to see what happens. They have a group shot at the Great Wall placed in a book with photos/history, etc. and a certificate that says "I scaled the Great Wall". I am sure I can round up some photos if he can't.
