I know the general consensus is to just use USD while in Caribbean ports, but I was reading up on some of the excursions in Falmouth, Jamaica and Grand Cayman on DCL's site, and it says:

"Guests are encouraged to bring local currency or credit cards to purchase optional extras such as souvenirs and snacks."

I really don't want to use credit cards there for a number of reasons, foreign transaction fees being one of them, so do those of you who have done the Western Caribbean itinerary, do you take Jamaican dollar with you? If so, there's also the commonly asked question of roughly how much? How much do things like photos and photos CDs cost at Dunn's? I don't plan on buying much, maybe a trinket here or there, and maybe some photos.

Do you plan to have foreign currencies for all of the ports or do you stick with USD all around? If you use USD, do you calculate or factor in exchange rate?

We paid for everything in US currency in Jamaica, GC and Cozumel. We always got change back in USD as well.

Always USD. If we are on a longer vacation in Mexico as we do with our time share, we will use Pesos though. But for the day, USD works fine.

Grand Cayman will accept US dollars but your change back will most likely be in Cayman dollars.
