...I need advice - I have never been there except in summer heat...if we fly down with sweatshirts and fleece jackets, that should be enough, shouldn't it? {We are only bringing carry ons} Do I bother to pack shorts at all? I am a clueless packer - especially in this situation! HELP, PLEASE!!!! :earseek: {TIA, by the way}

Hmmm... what forecast are you looking at? and for which dates? The furthest into the future they've done real forecasts is just 10 days, and that's showing some days in the 60s and some days in the 70s. While I remember some years where temperatures in late January didn't get out of the 50s much, it's not all that common. You generally can expect at least some portion of the day, most days, to be decent shorts-weather, especially for those of us who live, "way up North in the Ice and Snow."

a jacket that will break the wind/repel water as well. We were there in Dec. once when the temp dropped to the 50s, it was also windy and rainy one or two days. I am from a cold place, but the dampness and cold in Fl. really went through me, probably because I just wasn' expecting it. Layers are definitely the key... You will still have loads of fun!

We leave next week too and both accuweather and weather.com list high 60's. I would still bring sweatshirts, lights jackets and jeans but don't forget shorts and t-shirts :)

I recommend a hood/hat and gloves. While I managed to stay warm during 50 degree days with fleece and sweatshirts, my hands and head were cold. Luckily I had some dollar store gloves with me and some of my sweatshirts were hooded, however I ended up buying a hat anyway.

When we were down there before Christmas we found that the 55 degree weather was chilly.... damp and chilly. Fleece was our live saver!!! Layers is the trick... we started off the days wearing everything we had and slowly as it warmed up a bit we shed a layer or two.

Have a great trip

every time I check accuweather for MLK weekend, the high temp seems to go up a few degrees. It's looking like low-70's right now :)

We were there in April once with a cold snap--it was 50 in the day, and 30's at night. It was COLD, even in the sunshine. I'd pack some long pants for sure, in addition to the sweatshirts and jackets, if the temps are forecast to be that low. It gets quite breezy and that adds to the chill.

It's amazing here in Florida. Our 50 degrees is like anywhere else's 40 degrees. It's because of the humidity, wet cold compared to dry cold. We were up there 2 weeks ago and the high was 62 and low was 45 and my grandma and mom (who are Floridians) had to leave back to the room right after the Candlelight Processional because they were so cold and that was with shirts, sweaters, jackets, gloves, scarf and gloves... it was cold but I think they were crazy. It's cold on that Epcot water too, we've gone in May before and been freezing on the water at night. I would probably depend on jeans and layers... we always do layers. Can add and take off as needed (and we do plenty of that during the day!)

We were there the 2nd week of December. It was in the 60's during the day. One night for MVMCP, it was in the low 50's, high 40's. We had layers of: shirt, sweatshirt, winter coat, and gloves. The kids were still cold in the later hours at MVMCP (after 10pm). I gave them my winter coat to use as a blanket in their stroller. It's ok being in the sunshine when it's cold out, but at night when the sun is down, it's very cold.

But I would still take a cold, rainy day over a hot summer day at WDW.

You just need to pack a little of everything in the winter. Last week we overheard people expressing amazement over the weather, including a couple who were saying they had no idea it even got cold in Florida. Really, it was in the forties at the time and it gets much colder. The stores had lots of mittens and coats out but if you have those things already, why not save the money.
