Forecast of thunderstorms any moral support?

Anyone have good luck with this? I've been looking forward to this cruise (much needed due to severe, serious stress in my life), and now the forecast says rain for 2 out of 3 days of the cruise. That's a bit depressing, especially since our Nassau day has the worst forecast and I was really looking forward to visiting Atlantis for the first time.

Any moral support or positive experiences anyone can offer?

Unless it's going to be an absolute downpour, look forward to Atlantis since you will be getting soaked anyways. With lower crowds to boot.

And, remember, a bad day at sea still trumps one back at work!

What cruise? Ship? Date? Ports?

One of our cruises- Castaway day-supposed to be a washout. We were even chatting with two of the ship's officers the day before about it. You know they feel the brunt of anger when folks get rained out of their beach day. This was the day before-the forecast. Next day- most beautiful sunny Castaway Day! It can happen, It will be fine. You will enjoy a relaxing cruise no matter what. Have a wonderful trip. I could use a solo cruise myself! ❤

We sailed on the fantasy last week. Our second day at castaway had a forecast of all day scattered rain. Capt Henry came on the intercom and said that sometimes castaway cay seems to miss all the rain, even when it is widespread rain.

We could not believe how gorgeous the day at castaway was. Not a drop of rain, when you could clearly see rain all around the island. Hope you have the same good luck!

Being a Floridian and CC not being too far off the Coast of Palm Beach, showers move very quickly.
You can have a downpour and blazing sun all within an hour of each other.

Have fun!
This is so true! We had pretty bad thunderstorms on our CC day in 2018, but it was on/off. We'd grab our stuff and run to a shop or covered dining area off the beach while the rain poured down, then run back when the sun peeked through. Still an awesome day!

Our forecast at WDW before our cruise had thunderstorms listed everyday but it didn't bother me as I know there are frequent afternoon showers at WDW. The Bahamas are similar.

It'll be great either way. You're on a cruise! We always look at our Disney cruise as the ship being the destination and really I don't think we have been off the ship in Nassau in at least 10 years.

As others have said, rain does tend to move in and out. We've had rain on a couple of Caribbean cruises. One time in Nassau we did one of those buggy tours - dry when we started, but then we got caught in a brief but very heavy downpour during the ride, then it was over by the time the "tour" was over. We've had Castaway Cay mostly "rained out" (they didn't close the beach but almost everyone left and returned to the ship shortly after noon). And, on our Alaska cruise we had some major rain (including being in Ketchikan on the rainiest day of that year to that point - let that sink in: rainiest day of the year in the US city with the highest overall rainfall!). We didn't get to do everything we had planned, but we still had a great time, every time (though in Ketchikan I wish I had made some backup plans). There's always more to do, and as long as you can go with the flow (I'm sometimes bad at this - I plan, a lot), you can still have a great time. Oh, and on our Atlantis day, I would have loved a little rain - the pavement was absolutely scorching (as in, I think we burned our feet a bit from the hot sidewalks - I will know to bring water shoes if we go again),

Hopefully you'll have nothing more than passing showers, but in any case, I hope you can relax and de-stress regardless of the circumstances.

Rain in my hometown is actually a rare treat.
Here also (NM) we never see the type of rainstorms we have encountered while in FL or on a cruise. Like everyone has said, storms pass by relatively quickly and then the sun comes out, and the humidity goes up.

Have you tried reading up on the science of what makes a thunderstorm? I am fascinated by the amount of energy it takes to build a thunderhead and the internal workings of lighting. Try looking at the storm as a work of nature.

October 28th Magic, Nassau & Castaway Cay
Ignore the forecast. Its basically a standard disclaimer that there might be a shower. It won't be a consistent, continuous rainy day. We have friends sailing on the Disney Dream right now on basically the same itinerary.

Our first cruise was a NYE cruise on the Magic. 1 day into our 7 night trip the weather took a nasty turn and it was nothing but heavy rain, wind and continued storms. I'll tell ya, that boat was rockin' to beat the band. Did it dampen our spirits? Not at all....we were on a Disney Cruise! Something truly magical happened on that voyage. Because everyone was forced indoors, and we were all literally in the same boat...lol...strangers became friends, people in nearby cabins became neighbors, and by the time we reached Castaway on the last full day, I could swear I knew half the folks on the ship. Sitting in the theater waiting for a show to start was like watching a basketball game in High School, everyone knowing everyone else, all talking across each other, laughing, joking and making plans to hook up and play games later, or meet up after the show for a cocktail and dancing. There was something about the nasty weather that seemed to bring us all together, and I'm sure a bit of pixie dust as well. After many other cruises, this remains far and above my favorite of the bunch. It wasn't because of the things we did, but who we did them with! Many of my new found friends from that NYE voyage have become constants in my life. Who could ever ask for anything more.
So Cheburashka, dont worry about a thing! Just remember, wherever you are aboard the ship, Tinkerbell will be closeby waving her little wand in your direction, and when you're aboard the Magic, why, magic happens every day, rain or shine! God speed to you Lady C, you're in for a wonderful time!

Many years ago ... in a January we were at CC on a day when it was Cold, Very Windy and Rainy ALL Day. We didn't get off of the ship because of the wind and temperature. So it CAN happen (all day yicky). I'm not sure that even Cookies was up and running. All excursions were probably cancelled. But we stayed there docked all day. I assume that the Cabana people had to pay because we were in port :lmao:

We have been at CC (this time of the year) when we have been chased off the beach because of Lightening. EVERYONE was required to leave the beaches. We took shelter in Cookies, others in the shop(s). Less than 90 minutes later we were back on the beach with clear blue skies and very nice weather, water and sand. So don't worry about it too much beforehand because there is nothing you can do about it.

On yet another cruise ... well two cruises. the first one while we were in Nassau it was a glorious January day. A week later we were back in Nassau and it was overcast all day and a little breezy. Of Course, this was the day we went to Atlantis water park. The good news is that inside the park you are surrounded by tall buildings so the wind was not a factor until late in the afternoon. It might have even rained on us a little, but we were already wet so a little rain didn't bother us. But again by the end of the day with the overcast skies and breeze and spending all day in the water we were getting chilled but it was still a great day.

I hope that you have an Awesome Cruise and end up with reasonable weather.

Gotta add one more funny story. We were in Grand Cayman on a snorkeling excursion on a catamaran. Everyone was in their swimming suits as we were sailing out to the snorkeling spot. We had some blue skies, but lots of "clumps" of dark rain clouds. Temperature was pretty warm. But as we approached our snorkeling location, we got caught in a downpour and "everyone" scurried to get under cover under the boats canopy. We stopped and it was time to snorkel, so we put on our gear and jumped in the ocean while everyone else was still huddling out of the rain ... as if they were NOT going to get wet snorkeling!!!
