I've noticed that a lot of people seem to say that they request Aft cabins father than Fore. Is there a reson for this (noise, ship motion, traffic) or is it just a personal thing?
Aft has less motion but you do get engine noise. you are closer to topsiders (if you like the buffet) if you have young children aft is better if you are older forward is better -closer to the adult poll and regular resturants. secret deck 7 is no longer a secret it is always occupied by someone else -unless you get there really early of corse-
After choosing low decks mid-to-aft to minimize motion, we were upgraded to a forward cabin and now we love the quiet and soothing rocking motion while we fall asleep. Now I do not like eating in Parrot Cay because of the engine noise.
Aft in general, and deck 5 in particular!!!!!
Since there are so few staterooms on deck five, the hallways traffic is very low key, which means a lot less noise potential.

The DH and I also like aft. That's just where we ended up on our first cruise and liked it well enough to book there for our next one. We're on deck 7 btw, so we're close to the secret deck, and the aft elevators. Also, that part of the ship seemed quiet to me.
We were on deck 8 aft and loved it. It was a quick trip up to Topsiders, the kids pool and most importantly (with 3 kids) the Beverage station. Have fun on your upcoming trip
