Ford Mustang owners

I had that bad plastic intake(why, oh why would they use all plastic), but now a have a nice new one$$$$:headache:. Still some plastic on the new one, which is aftermarket, but the stress point where it cracks is NOT plastic.

Well, she is running fine now. I am making it a point to driving her to work 1 time a month. Just so she gets to see some daylight:thumbsup2;). And yes, she is in great condition!!!

Ok. I misunderstood. I somehow interpreted what you said as you were going to have to replace the intake again. I just went and took pics of mine so you knew what to look for, but Im glad you don't need them! Whew! I hope you didnt bury the boyfriend in a shallow grave thinking he did it. Few burnouts shouldnt hurt anything :)

You guys are making me cry. I miss my Mustangs.

I used to have two Mustangs. #1 88 maroon notchback. I seriously do not know what Ford was thinking when they made that car with a 4 cylinder. But it was my first car and it has a special place in my heart. #2 94 blue convertible that was my dream car. I stored it in the winter and only drove the old Mustang in the snow. Honestly neither were great in snow and ice but I love my Mustangs.

I finally had to sell them both because I had to have that third child. Car seats do not fit that well in the back but I did it through two kids. However they are only four seaters and now I need to seat five. I tell everyone once these kids are gone:car: I am getting my Mustang back.

Pic is broken and now you piqued my curiousity!! A fellow stanger who lives across town in Denver proper has his dad living with him. They went to a mustang rally and he saw his old 70 Mach 1. The very car itself. He broke down in tears. Funny how a car can do that to a man.

That is strange, on my machine the pic even shows up in your quote! Anyway, if you go to volomuseum.org and search the cars for sale, his is the 1969 Boss. It is gorgeous!

Ha ha!!! No, didn't have to dig any shallow graves:lmao:. I love him dearly and hope some day he will be my SIL. He felt horrible. And I felt horrible for him feeling this way.

My husband has always had Mustangs (or a Mercury Capri when they were twins). He has had a 1966, a 1974 Mustang 2.0, a 1977 Capri 2.0, a 1979 Turbo, a 1982 5.0 (I also had one), a 1989 5.0, a 1999 Cobra, and now has a 2012 Boss 3.02 (#1357).

I currently own a 2010 Mustang Convertible, Mustang Club of America edition. Not my first Mustang and likely not my last.

After all, I was concieved in a Mustang!

With only 14k original miles. It has sat in the garage until this summer. DH finally realized HE and the car aren't getting any younger and he better start enjoying it LOL.

Oh you're even lower mileage than us. DH has a 2003 GT convertible with about 14k miles. He's been driving the car more regularly lately though since DS got his license and drives the other car, so his mileage is creeping up

Beautiful Mustangs you have there, HonestAbe. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, I don't have many pics of my old Mustang around but the pic below is right before I sold it. It was a 2002 that I had been working on but never got around to fully finishing her off. I had way to many issues with it that it got to the point where I needed something a lot more reliable. I sure do miss it though.

I miss mine! We have owned 3. I had a 2000 that I loved, and then we added a 2006 (I think) convertible in early 2008. We traded those in on a 2009 gt convertible, but we could never make a car seat work (DH and I are tall and it was unsafe for all 3 of us). So now...we have no mustangs.

My dad has a 2001 cobra svt convertible that is gorgeous, and he recently added a 2012 gt. We all went to the national show at the biltmore house in 2010 (including DS, who was only about 4 mos at the time). DS, DH, and my dad both wear a lot of mustang gear, too!

I had a 2003 Mustang that I bought new. It was red and had the pony package. DS22 wanted it when he was 15 so I let him have it and bought me a different car. Then, it was time to look for DD21 a car and she wanted a convertible. She ended up with a silver 2004 Mustang convertible.

Meanwhile, DS22 loved the red mustang but his dream car was Legend Lime. He found a convertible in IL for sale (keeping in mind we live in GA) so I bought that one and had it shipped in. It was drop shipped to the KMart parking lot and he went by but never realized what was happening. :lmao: He still has that car and it just rolled over 38,000 miles. I have pictures but they aren't on a website, only on my computer. At that point, I had three Mustangs in my name.

DD21 then decided she really didn't like the sounds in a convertible and wanted a hard top. She couldn't find what she wanted so we went to the Ford place to order her one. The salesperson said she was "sure we have something on the lot that will do." I explained that I really needed to see the manager and get a car ordered because she evidently didn't know us and we don't do "something that will do". She ended up with a (something that excapes me right now) Blue hard top with white over the top stripes. It was the bomb until she had DGS3 and had to put him in the carseat.

All during the Mustang phase, DH had an '85 black GT. DS and DD never did drive that one!

I had a '79 Mustang in high school. My parents won it, and a trip to Disney World, in a raffle.

I was the envy of all my classmates.

I still have my 2 Mustangs. The '65 Mustang that my parents bought me for my high school graduation and the '88 Mustang that DH and I bought the year before my oldest DD was born. We brought her home from the hospital in that car. Putting a car seat in an '88 Mustang isn't easy. That car ended up being her first car after she got her license. The '65 has been through alot and needs a good bit of work done to it. Hopefully, one day I can get it restored.

NICE CARS!!!!

Tears came to my eyes on the day I got out of class, walked to where I parked my 1968 GT350 Shelby and it wasn't there. :furious: Every time I see a '68 go on the block during Barret-Jackson auctions my heart skips a beat, especially if it is blue.

Enjoy the new baby and be safe. :thumbsup2

I had a 96 GT and now I have a 2000 convertible, not a gt, which dh complains about.
My current mustang has 135,000 miles on it and is getting pretty beat up. I need to get another car. I'm trying to decide whether to trade in the rag top or to hang on to it and re-fresh it a bit. I will need paint, a new top and new clips that hold some of the interior trim in. I'm wondering if it's worth dumping $5,000 i n cosmetics into a car with this many miles. If I do then I'll just probably always keep it and have it be the fun car.

I don't have a Mustang, but it's interesting reading this thread nonetheless.

From the prospective of current owners, could a Mustang coupe (non-GT) be used as a daily driver for one person? How is the trunk space? Enough for trips to Walmart, Publix, etc.?

TIA! :)

Totally! They make great daily drivers. I used my 2000 for college, grad school, and the first couple years we were married. I never had trouble getting my groceries or anything. My dad is using a new gt for a daily driver now. Oh, and we frequently traveled in the mustang. We took it on our honeymoon to Disney and fit in all our luggage, a decent sized cooler, and the 2 of us with no issues.

My Mustang was a daily driven car (non-GT) and I loved it for everything!! I carried DS22, DD21, and DGD19 to school in it. Between them, we had three full bookbags, a French horn, a clarinet, and flute. With all of them, there was always a need for groceries so I was always loading it down to the max with a grocery trip. They hold a lot and the gas mileage isn't bad.

Right now, DS22 has his loaded down with stuff from his apt because he's moving between two places. You'd be amazed at how much they hold!

I think one person the are fine. I think for 2 people i would also be fine. I believe the backseat however, is not even meant to be used. For just going back to work, going out, or regular shopping trips etc... it serves me well and I have no complaints whatsoever with those aspects. The with the remote control you have easy access to the trunk and all. While the trunk is not huge, I DID manage to fit a small kiddie pool in it. I had to bend the pool a little but it did fit, and I was able to slam the lid shut. I can get a cooler in the trunk too (not at the same time as the kiddie pool obviously). I am not sure of the dimensions of the cooler, it is just one of those fairly big red ones they sell at Walmart.

Seems like bad weather, snow/ice you might as well just stay home. I did not realize how difficult it is to drive on that stuff until I tried it in one of these cars.

I have had to make a few adjustments from driving a SUV before as far as hauling stuff goes...but now that I am used to it, really not much of an issue.

Oh my, you have me beat! I have a 2001 GT convertible with 14k miles, and I thought that was crazy low!!

Beautiful cars on this thread!!

I think they can easily be a daily driver for 1, or even 2. But no more. The backseats are worthless for people. My dh and I take ours on a short road trip (only 2 days) ever summer (this weekend!!), and we have plenty of room for a small suitcase, small cooler, and a few other things. Like the large bucket and carwash supplies, and towels to dry, that he used to take so he could wash it on our trip :lmao:. He doesn't do that anymore.

That's my baby, the day I picked him up (his name is "Alex"). 2006 V-6 Pony Package. Bought it in late 2005. Had to special order it to get the color I wanted in a stick shift.

Having an issue with it currently. The leather-ish fabric on the inside of the passenger side door has detached from the foam backing, so it's just hanging down over the inside armrest (I have it rolled up onto the armrest currently). From a quick online search, I discovered this is quite common with the current Mustangs in hot climates (I'm in southern California and the car is always outdoors). From what I've read, the foam is pretty crappy and breaks down in the heat over time, which causes this issue. People are having to go to auto upholstery places to get it fixed (Ford wants way too much money to do it). I mentioned it at the dealer a couple weekends ago and the mechanic claimed he'd never seen it happen in a Mustang, but it was common in the Edge.

Whatever. I still LOVE my Mustang!!! But, I'm heading out of the country for a year and have to store my baby in a local RV storage center (indoors, at least). Poor thing. I'll miss him something awful...and will miss driving, as I won't have any car at all!! Will have to plan a nice road trip for Alex and I to share when I get back to the U.S.!
