Hello,

We need to rent a car on our upcoming trip, the suggested model is a Ford Escape, I just need to know if I can fit three carseats (which we will bring with us) across the back seat.

There will be two booster types and 1 rear facing.

Does anyone out there know if it is possbile in this car.

Thanks in advance.

Kirsten

I have a Mazda Tribute which is the pretty much the same vehicle.(There is a ford version, mazda version, and mercery one).

I think it will be REALLY tight. What type of rear facing car seat do you have?

IF you actually get a Ford Escape, you might get 3 across but it depends on what car seats you own.

Be prepared, though, that you might not get a Ford Escape. I don't know of any car rental company that guarantees you what vehicle you'll get. Best you can hope for is a free upgrade if the seats you bring don't fit. But if you're going at a busy time of year it's possible they might not have what you need. It would be better to play it safe and get a minivan if possible.

What 3 seats are you planning on bringing?

Thanks for the help everyone, I realise we may not get a Ford Escape, we are going in May, so I might take the risk and if the carseats don't fit upgrade.

The difference is £80.00 which is about $130 currently.

The two boosters are just a generic brand and the rear facing is a Britax. She could be in a forward facing by then but I doubt it because she is so little.

I own a 2009 Ford Escape and when my nieces visited we were not able to fit a carseat, and 2 booseters across the back seat.

I have been able to get three carseats, but it is a VERY tight fit and really just depends on the carseats. You have to buckle one in, shove it as far over towards the door as humanly possible, hold your breath just right and wedge the second and 3rd in. It can be done, but is TIGHT! :woohoo:
We couldn't use the boosters because it is IMPOSSIBLE to buckle and unbuckle the seatbelts everytime we got in and out becuase the seats will shift as the kids ride. And as I learned with this, booster seats tend to be a tensie bit wider! :headache:
Go for the upgrade, for your own sanity!!:rotfl2:

We have an older CR-V and it is about the same size as the Escape. There is no way we could get a third seat in ours with our 2 car seats. Even ifthey might physically fit, buckleing the boosters will be a royal pain!!!!

For an extra $130 I would spring for the upgrade. If you arrive and you can't get the seats in after a lONG flight, what would your back up plan be?? I wouldn't count on an upgrade because they will know that your options are limited. You may get a sympathic agent but you may not.

Probably not with a Britax. I have one fisherprice made by Britax (it is like a Marathon) and it takes up a lot of space.
